NBA Opinion Penny Starting a Trend

It will never cease to amaze me what NBA teams are willing to blow their money on. With the Miami Heat resigning Penny Hardaway, we could be witnessing a resurgence of your favorite stars from the 90’s! Nobody asked for it and everyone is getting it. Cash in on some of our NBA Specials in the BetUS.com sportsbook and earn your money while these aging superstars shake off the rust to earn theirs!

Reggie Miller is first on our list because the Celtics are trying to lure the forty-two year old sharp shooter out of the booth and on to the floor. Seeing Reggie play in a Celtics uniform would be like seeing Larry Bird coming out of retirement to play for the freaking Pacers. He is being promised around fifteen minutes per game.

Reggie “The Nemesis” Miller’s last game was against the Pistons in 2005 during the playoffs, so it is not that much of a stretch to believe that Reggie could comeback. There is a decent chance of Reggie coming back and with the Garnett-Pierce-Allen trio in Boston. Reggie joining the Celtics is a lot closer then you would imagine.

Another sharp shooter making headlines is Alan Houston. Yep. Alan Houston. One of the deadliest shooters the NBA has ever known, Houston last played during an injury riddled 2004-05 season for the Knicks, but arthritis in his knees became problematic for the jump shooter.

The road to Houston’s return should be paved through New York City, and if Isaiah is involved, Houston might actually end up with a max contract for the next seven years (kidding…kind of). Other teams that he has expressed interest towards are San Antonio and Cleveland. Do the reigning NBA and eastern champs require the services of a thirty-six year old, defensive liability that can’t jump? Probably not.

Perhaps my favorite name to be mentioned in the press lately is that of Shawn Kemp. How he has not been given the name “Big Daddy” is infuriating. Kemp turns thirty-eight this fall and tried to mount a comeback last year with the Magic before more drug charges were levied against him.

Kemp is nowhere near the force of nature he was when he was lowering the boom as a Seattle Supersonic, but this is the NBA we’re talking about and anything is possible. The Rain Man has slimmed down from the monstrous 300 pounds he was carrying around. The real winner here is the Kemp family. It’s hard feeding 954 children with no job.

Another member of the illustrious 2004-05 retiree club is Keith Van Horn, who still has some game left in him at the age of thirty-one. Van Horn, who presumably has family troubles, has been hiding with his family in his Colorado home and has failed to return NBA calls. Don’t expect Van Horn to be in an NBA uniform next season.

Perhaps the most unlikely player to come out of retirement will be Latrell Spreewell who has not been seen in the NBA since playing in Minnesota with Sam Cassel and Kevin Garnett, but with KG in Boston and the Celtics in need of some depth, Spree might answer the call if Boston came calling.

Reggie and Spree playing ball with KG, Pierce, Ray Ray? Hey, if Penny and Shaq can reunite, and Kevin Federline can become a millionaire, I’m ready to believe anything is possible.
