The uninspiring play of the Cavs lately has been frustrating NBA basketball bettors crazy. They’ve gone 3-2 SU in their last five games, while tumbling to 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games at home. And with a line that opened at Detroit -4, and doubled faster than a pair of tens at a blackjack table, this has to entice the Detroit online betting faithful. But Cleveland is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games against the punishing Pistons. Want to make it even more confusing? Detroit and Cleveland are 5-5 SU in their past 10 games with each other. Awesome.
It’s strange that Cleveland would become a heavier underdog, considering that Rasheed Wallace, Chauncey and Prince only played 24-minutes in the last game, a 115-103 victory over Minnesota which granted them privilege to the second-best record in the NBA. With that locked up, why would Detroit risk the health of its starters against a Cavaliers team that needed a set of incompetent referees to edge Philadelphia.
If you’re following the trends, Detroit is only 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games on the road when playing Cleveland. And when they get spreads like this, I can see why. Not that Cleveland has played well lately, but they always step up against Detroit. And now you’re essentially betting on Cleveland’s backups against Detroit’s. Whoooo! How fun!
Don’t bet on Detroit tilting its hand early with the playoffs around the corner. They have nothing to prove against Lebron in this game, and will happily rest their starters as Cleveland tries to figure out what they have on the bench. Detroit’s backups are far superior to anything else that Cleveland has, so I love Detroit in this game. The Cavs are a mess without Lebron, who will likely be resting no matter what tonight as a healthy scratch.
