Andrea Bargnani has been getting a ton of flak for not being a better player at this stage in his career. But a 25-point outing against the Knicks last night proves that he is well on his way. Against a hapless Indiana team, the Raptors should dominate in this one.
The Pacers rock the rim for 102.4 points per game, but their defense has been atrocious. They allow 105.0 points against on average. Still, they play fairly well at home, despite a 12-14-1 ATS home record. Jermaine O’Neal is showing flashes of why teams should trade for the big man this summer, although it remains surprising that he wasn’t moved at the deadline considering the ballsy moves the GM’s were pulling. O’Neal only has 15.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game, which would be fine if Larry Legend wasn’t paying him through the nose.
O’Neal will have his hands full dealing with Chris Bosh, who is playing as motivated as anyone right now. Couples with Bargnani, they are forming a formidable front court that is difficult to match up against without a big body to consume the lane. Jose Calderon will dominate the point guard match up in this game, and pad his 12.9 points per game and 8.9 assists. Has there ever been a more underrated or uncelebrated player?
The Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their past 5 games against Indiana on the road. The reason the line is so tight is that they are just 6-17 SU in their past 23 road games in Conseco Fieldhouse. Don’t be fooled. The Raptors have everything to play for, while Indiana is focused more on getting a nice lottery pick. Take the Raptors with the points as Bosh tools O’Neal on both ends of the floor.
