I don’t know what’s more staggering about this whole game. The fact that the Nets are favored, or the fact that Vince Carter is actually playing with – gulp – heart. Maybe this goes hand in hand with the slap in the face that he got from Jason Kidd when he bolted Jersey for Dallas (note: that worked out well), but Carter’s play as of late has been nothing short of what we’ve come to expect from superstars. Granted, he’s a certifiable douchebag to his fans and the Nets betting faithful, but when VC gets revved up, it’s scary what he can do on the floor.
The Nets are an abysmal road team, however. They are 1-5 ATS in their past six roadies and are 0-5 SU in their past five road games. Despite Vince’s motivated play as of late, the Nets are still absolutely atrocious on the road. On top of that, they haven’t beaten New York in the past three games. They are 3-0 ATS and SU in their three meetings with the Knicks this season.
Now I know I’ve touted the Knicks as a strong home team earlier this calendar year. But the odds makers adjusted to them and the Knicks have gone 0-5 ATS in their past five games. The Knicks always play well against Jersey, so don’t be discouraged by their recent play. For whatever reason, Crawford goes bananas when the Nets visit MSG so the Knicks betting faithful have reason to hope. New York is 6-3 ATS against New Jersey in their past 9 battles, and this is one matchup you can expect the Knicks to handle well with a positive handicap.
The Knicks are still a big team with Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry under the rim, and that is a matchup the Nets can’t hope to match. When they try to speed up the tempo, the Knicks can match them. The problem is going to be Nate Robinson’s injury which leaves the Knicks very thin at point. I still like the Knicks chances with a decent spread like this, so take the home dogs in the UNDER.
