NBA Furious Free Picks 2008 – Detroit Derail Philly Momentum Train

Detroit Pistons (59-23) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (40-42)
Thursday, May 1st --- Wachovia Center, Philadelphia --- 8:00pm EST
Series: Det 2-1
NBA Betting Line: Detroit -5.5 (178.5)

For six quarters of online betting basketball, Detroit has run the Philadelphia 76ers band of upstarts off the court. With back-to-back blowout victories, the Sixers look lost and very much like the underdog they were pegged to be heading in to this series. The question now is whether they can rally to down the Pistons in a pivotal and potentially fatal, Game 6 at home.

Detroit blasted the Sixers by a huge margin with a 98-81 victory. And the crazy thing is that Andre Igoudala had arguably his best game of the series, with 21 points to lead the charge for the Sixers. Maybe he needs to play worse for the Sixers to win (I’m kidding)?

But now Detroit is getting a favorable handicap against the Sixers, who have gone 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games and 2-7 SU in the same stretch. Granted, the Sixers are 14-6 SU in their last 20 games at home, but more recently they have only won 2-of-7 SU at home. That spells absolute disaster that came blazing out of the second half to make the playoffs when everyone doubted them.

The punishing Pistons have gone 8-15 ATS in their last 23 road games, leading some to believe that they’ll have trouble with the Sixers on the road. But in reality, these Pistons have all their swagger back. When that happens, it only spells trouble for the rest of the Eastern Conference. The Pistons are 5-2 ATS when playing the Sixers on the road in the last 7 games. Of course, those two losses came against Philadelphia in Games 3 and 4, but I just don’t see Philadelphia rallying again.

The UNDER has been a safe bet for much of this series. The game has gone UNDER in 4-of-6 when Detroit takes to the road against Philadelphia.

It’s been a nice run for the Sixers, but the road ends here. The Pistons Empire has risen to the challenge of these rebels. It’s the next round they have to worry about – with Boston and Cleveland gaining steam.
