NBA Furious Free Picks 2008 – Cavs To Push Isaiah Closer To Unemployment

Cleveland Cavaliers (34-26) vs. New York Knicks (18-42)

Wednesday, March 5th --- Madison Square Garden, NYC --- 7:30pm EST

NBA Betting Line: Cleveland -3.5 (191)

I know I’ve been touting the Knicks as a strong bet at home, but this is Lebron in MSG we’re talking about here. The King will look to extend his kingdom with his new army as they march against the star dudded line up of New York. The Cavs are 5-2 SU in their past 7 games, and have been a road warrior going 4-1 ATS in their past 5 road games. Can the Knicks fire power appear tonight to close the gap with Cleveland?

That’s probably what the oddsmakers are hoping, but the truth is that it’s not happening. I love Cleveland in this game with anything under five points. New York has gone 1-4 SU in their past 5 games and, despite going 4-1 ATS in their past 5 games, don’t stand a chance against a much bigger and badder Cleveland Cavs squad. New York gets driven over for 101.3 points per game, while only amassing 95.1 points per game.

The Knicks boast a great roster on paper, but the inferior coaching of Zeke is driving this franchise in to the ground. The matchup of Nate Robinson and Daniel Gibson will be one to watch for sure, but that’s where the hope for New York ends. A revitalized Ben Wallace is heading a back court that boasts Joe Smith (9.0 points per game) and Big Z (13.5 points per game, 9.6 rebounds) that will dominate the hapless pair of Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph. Remember when Randolph was supposed to be one of the premier big men in the league? What happened to that?

Lebron has scored 45 and 32 points in the two games against the Knicks this season. He loves playing in Madison Square Garden more than Darren McFadden hates condoms. With Kobe stealing all the MVP talk, Lebron has to begin putting some conquests together to get the shine he feels he deserves. The Cavs are beginning to play as a solid team, and all the new additions are starting to gel in, none more noticeably than Wallace. I just don’t see how a Knicks team that has zero drive and no chemistry beats a team like Cleveland which is thriving and thirsting for a Championship. Bet on the Cavs as long as this stays under five.
