NBA Championship Futures Betting – The Future Is Nearer Than You Think
By Eric Williams
With the NBA’s regular season quickly coming to close, this NBA Betting article will give the BetUS.com NBA Betting Community a brief look at the NBA Odds and realistic chances of hoisting the 2007-08 NBA championship trophy this June.
With time winding down, let me get down to business.
To Win Outright The NBA Championship
The Legitimate Contenders
San Antonio Spurs +500
I see a conference finals in their future at the very least – and likely NBA finals appearance.
Boston Celtics +300
While the C’s have had an absolutely fine season, I think it could end in the eastern conference finals.
Los Angeles Lakers +400
Looks like Kobe and Phil Jackson are going to have the last laugh after all huh? This could be the team to beat for years in the western conference.
Detroit Pistons +600
Can you say NBA Finals for the Pistons? The only team standing in their way this season looks like the Celtics.
Utah Jazz +1200
Jerry Sloan, Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams give this blossoming team a chance to reach the western conference finals for the second consecutive season this year.
New Orleans Hornets +1200
Speaking of teams that are blossoming – the Hornets are for real.
Cleveland Cavaliers +1400
‘King James’ has already shown that he can single-handedly carry a mediocre team all the way to the NBA Finals.
The Pretenders
Dallas Mavericks +500
The addition of Jason Kidd still will not help the Mavericks stop Tim Duncan in the low post … duh!
Phoenix Suns +450
We’re an up-tempo team. No, we’re a half-court team now. Oh we don’t know what we are anymore.
Denver Nuggets +2500
The Nuggets shoot … they score … and they still lose. Go figure.
Orlando Magic +1800
Has anyone seen Rashard Lewis and his huge contract since the second week of the regular season?
Maybe Next Year
Houston Rockets +2500
Injuries – and being soft – keep killing this team come playoff time.
Toronto Raptors +2500
This franchise is undoubtedly heading in the right direction and could become a power before you know it.
Portland Trailblazers +6000
Adding Greg Oden to their terrific young duo of LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy, should be something to watch next season.
Atlanta Hawks +15000
The young and apparently hungry Hawks say they are tired of this franchise being labeled ‘loser’ and they’re going to do something about it. Guess what? They’re right.
Who Knows When
Golden State Warriors +4000
Washington Wizards +5000
Chicago Bulls +8000
Miami Heat +50000
Los Angeles Clippers +50000
New Jersey Nets +10000
Seattle SuperSonics +50000
Milwaukee Bucks +20000
Charlotte Bobcats +25000
Minnesota Timberwolves +50000
New York Knicks +25000
Sacramento Kings +25000
Indiana Pacers +15000
Philadelphia 76ers +15000
Memphis Grizzlies +50000
Conference Championship Teams: Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs
NBA Champion: San Antonio Spurs
Analysis: I know the Spurs have failed to win consecutive titles in the Tim Duncan era, but I say San Antonio ends that trend this season by proving to the entire league that they are indeed still the best team in all of basketball. The Spurs have added veterans Damon Stoudemire and Kurt Thomas to an already loaded veteran team that knows how to win come crunch time – and I believe this experience and increased depth will give the Spurs the extra boost they will need this season to finish off their highly-competitive foes, particularly in the western conference playoffs.
