NBA Betting - San Antonio Spurs vs. New Orleans Hornets
By DS Williamson
San Antonio Spurs (+ 2) vs. New Orleans Hornets (+ 2)
Tip-off: 8:05 pm EST.
This is a key game in the Western Conference as San Antonio, New Orleans, Houston, and the Los Angeles Lakers are all fighting for the top seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. San Antonio was on a nice run for a while, but in two of their last three games they haven’t been all that good. The Spurs recently lost to both the Nuggets and the Suns in two of their last three. They did beat the Nuggets in their last game, but they failed to cover the BetUS spread once again. In their last 10 games the San Antonio Spurs have been a terrible 3-6-1.
New Orleans isn’t a bad team against the BetUS spread. At home they are 19 and 13 against the BetUS spread this year. They are also a very good 37-24-1 overall. In their last 10 games the Hornets are 5 and 5 against the BetUS spread. This includes a very humbling 10 point loss to the super-hot Houston Rockets in their last game. Here are some other trends.
The San Antonio Spurs are 4 and 0 against the BetUS spread in their last 4 games on a Wednesday night.
The New Orleans Hornets are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 games at home.
The New Orleans Hornets are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games as the favorite.
The San Antonio Spurs are 7 and 3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
This is going to be a very close game. The BetUS spread of Hornets – 2 reflects that. Usually, the home team has the upper-hand in these situations, but the trends clearly favor the San Antonio Spurs.
I know. It’s hard to imagine that a team that has gone 3-6-1 in their past ten games against the BetUS spread can actually go into New Orleans and beat the Hornets - - one of the best coached teams in the NBA.
But that’s exactly what I’m going to wager on tonight. I like the Spurs money-line for the simple fact that the Spurs know they let one get away versus the Suns this past Sunday. The Spurs are better then that. They should have won that game straight-up.
I expect Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan to all have terrific games tonight. The Hornets could be in for a long night if the Spurs get their defense going.
The BetUS NBA Betting line is San Antonio Spurs + 2 against the spread on the road versus the New Orleans Hornets.
I like the Spurs to win this game straight-up.
