NBA Basketball Betting – Milwaukee vs. Philadelphia
By Charles Jay
WHO: Milwaukee Bucks (18-28 SU, 20-25-1 ATS) at Philadelphia 76ers (17-28 SU, 20-24-1 ATS)
WHERE: Wachovia Center in Philadelphia
WHEN: Wednesday, January 30 at 7 PM ET
BetUS NBA basketball betting odds: PHILADELPHIA -7, Total 186
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:
* PHIL has covered four of the last six meetings
* MIL has won six of the last nine meetings SU
* Nine of the last 13 meetings have gone OVER the total
* Four of the last six meetings at Philadelphia have gone OVER the total
* PHIL has had the rebounding edge in four of the last five meetings
Milwaukee is a 45% shooting team that nails 5.6 three-pointers per game. The Bucks have averaged 12.4 offensive rebounds and 40.6 rebounds overall. On defense Milwaukee has suffered, allowing opponents to hit 46.8% fromt he field. Also:
* MIL has covered two of its last seven games
* MIL has won three of its last 11 games SU
* MIL has lost its last four road games to the number
* MIL has lost its last six road games SU
Philadelphia is the NBA's least prolific team from three-point range, averaging 3.8 three-pointers made per game. The Sixers are the second lowest scoring team in the league (93.4 ppg) and hit 71% from the charity stripe. Also:
* PHIL has covered four of its last 13 games
* PHIL has won three of its last 14 games SU
* PHIL has played five of its last seven games OVER the total
* PHIL has won and covered one of its last five home games
* PHIL has played nine of its last 12 home games OVER the total
Maybe it was a really bad omen that Milwaukee dropped an 87-80 decision on its visit to the New Jersey Meadowlands last night, against a Nets team that has been playing like it's thrown in the towel. Milwaukee hit just 37.5% from the floor in that one, which was in sharp contrast to the 48.1% Philly shot in its 103-96 win over Charlotte on Saturday. That was the Sixers' last game, which means the team has had three full days of rest while Milwaukee is playing its third game in four nights.
That scheduling dynamic certainly favors Philadelphia greatly, but the question is - do we want to lay this many points with such a bad team, especially one that has covered just one of its last five at home?
Well, yeah, maybe. While Philly has been a favorite of seven points or more only once this season, Milwaukee has been a dog of 6.5 points or more six times, and covered only once. And the Bucks' performances in the second end of back-to-back games (5-7 ATS) gives us no convincing evidence to support their side.
So we go with a small recommendation on the Sixers, the seven-point favorite in the BetUS NBA betting odds.
