NBA Betting - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings
By D.S. Williamson
Los Angeles Lakers (- 6.5) vs. Sacramento Kings (+ 6.5)
Tip-off: 10:00 pm EST.
Two days removed from a stunning overtime victory over the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers take their game to Sacramento to take on a Kings’ team that hasn’t been the same in - - oh, maybe six years? The Kings have a nice young player in Kevin Martin. He’s averaging 22 points and is by far the Kings best player right now. But one player doesn’t make a team in the NBA and that is evident in the Kings’ atrocious 4-5-1 against the BetUS spread record in their last 10 games.
The Lakers have a slew of great players. In fact the Lakers are probably the best team in the NBA right now. They have gone 0 and 2 against the BetUS spread in their last 2 games, but are still at a very nice 7 and 3 for their last 10. This line is pretty much where I expected it be. Let’s take a look at a few more trends:
The Los Angeles Lakers are 8 and 1 against the BetUS spread in their last 9 games versus a rival from the NBA Pacific Division.
The Los Angeles Lakers are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 games on a Tuesday night.
The Sacramento Kings are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 games as an underdog at home.
The Los Angeles Lakers are 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The trends favor the Lakers in the game and it favors them big. The Lakers had to pull out all of the stops this past Sunday in that thrilling overtime victory over the Mavericks. One thing to remember is that the Lakers hadn’t beaten the Mavs in three straight games. So the victory was huge. I didn’t expect the Lakers to have trouble covering against the Portland Trailblazers two games ago, but, then again, I wasn’t positive that Brandon Roy, Portland’s fantastic young player, was going to be back on the court.
So where does that leave us? For one, as good as Kevin Martin is, he isn’t Brandon Roy. For another, the Kings have nobody close to the supporting cast that Roy has. Finally, the Lakers are just too good to let the Kings stick around in this game.
I expect a blow-out. That means I think the Lakers will definitely cover tonight.
The BetUS basketball betting line is Los Angeles Lakers – 6.5 against the spread on the road versus the Sacramento Kings.
Taking a road team against the BetUS spread is always tough, but these are the Los Angeles Lakers. They should have no problems covering in tonight’s game.
