NBA Basketball Wagering – Milwaukee Bucks at Atlanta Hawks

While the Milwaukee Bucks, (24-45 SU, 30-38 ATS, 39-29 O/U), may not have much to play for this season as they get prepared for the end of another disappointing season and come into tonight’s matchup off a pathetic 78-73 loss to the pitiful Miami Heat on Monday, the Atlanta Hawks, (30-39 SU, 32-36-1 ATS, 33-36 O/U), have plenty to play for as they are holding on to the eighth and final spot in the eastern conference playoff race.

Atlanta comes into tonight’s contest off a uninspiring 103-94 loss to the Chicago Bulls in the BetUS.com Sportsbook on Tuesday night and can’t afford to drop many more games if they plan on holding on to their tenuous playoff spot, just one half game ahead of the underachieving New Jersey Nets. The Hawks trailed the Bulls throughout the contest before making it close at the end.

"It's a big disappointment. It just seems like we didn't have the energy tonight," Atlanta shooting guard Joe Johnson said. "We came out lackadaisical."

The Hawks will be looking to take advantage of Milwaukee’s poor play on the road this season as the Bucks have dropped their last six road games and 13 of their last 14 by a whopping average of 14.5 points per game.

"We just kind of went through the motions and thought it was going to be easier than it was," Bucks head coach Larry Krystkowiak said.

The Bucks are just 2-8 in their last ten games overall and 3-7 against the spread over the same span while the Hawks have managed to go a respectable 5-5 in their last ten games but just 4-6 against the spread over the same span.

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my analysis and NBA Betting Picks.

The Bucks are 5-0 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.

The Bucks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.

The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

The Hawks are 7-3-1 ATS in their last eleven home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.

The Over is 6-0 in Bucks last six games as a road underdog.

The Over is 5-1 in Hawks last six Wednesday games.

The Favorite is 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

The Home team is 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

Analysis: While the Hawks will almost assuredly win this important matchup following last night’s loss to the Bulls, I think the Bucks are going to cover the high point spread in a closer-than-expected loss to the Hawks. Take the underachieving Bucks to cover the eight-point spread.
