NBA Basketball Free Picks – Golden State at New Orleans

The Golden State Warriors, (27-19 SU, 20-25 ATS, 23-21-1 O/U) have played fairly solid basketball this season in compiling their 27-19 SU record, but the Warriors, who added veteran forward Chris Webber to their roster on Tuesday are in for a serious scrap when they face the scorching-hot New Orleans Hornets, (32-12 SU, 29-14-1 ATS, 19-25 O/U) tonight as the Hornets seek their 10th consecutive victory.

Led by gifted point guard Chris Paul and underrated forward David West, the Hornets have the best record in the western conference coming into tonight’s matchup.

Not only are the Hornets winning, but they have been routinely routing their opponents, winning by an average of nearly 21 points per game during their winning streak with West leading the way with an average of 20.1 points during the streak.

The Hornets pounded the Denver Nuggets on Monday, winning 117-93 as Paul had a spectacular game with 23 points, 17 assists and nine rebounds.

The Warriors are 7-3 in their last 10 games but come into tonight’s contest off a 111-107 road loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

Head coach Don Nelson said Webber would join the Warriors on Thursday when the team returned to Oakland, adding that Webber would instantly make the Warriors a better, deeper team.

"He's one of the best passing big men to ever play the game," Nelson said. "That's going to really help us. And then he's going to increase our team IQ. He's a very smart player. And he's another big man, he makes us one more deep all along the roster."

The Hornets beat the Warriors 116-104 on Jan 4th in Golden State as four players scored at least 20 points for the Hornets.

Here’s a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my Free NBA Picks.

The Warriors are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 vs. NBA Southwest.

The Warriors are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest.

The Warriors are 3-7 ATS in their last ten road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.

The Hornets are 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games.

The Hornets are 10-1 ATS in their last eleven games playing on one days rest.

The Hornets are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 vs. NBA Pacific.

Key Totals Trends

The Over is 5-1 in Warriors last six vs. NBA Southwest.

The Over is 5-1 in Warriors last six overall.

The Under is 4-0 in Hornets last four home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

The Over is 6-1 in Hornets last seven home games.

Key Head-to-Head Trends

The Warriors are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

The Over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in New Orleans.

Analysis: I’m thinking the Warriors, with their spectacular offense, can cover the nine-point spread tonight, but the Hornets have been beating their opponents so badly recently, there is absolutely no way I’m going against the Hornets twice in the same week, particularly since I got burned the last time I went against them.
