NBA Basketball Betting Dallas at Phoenix

WHO: Dallas Mavericks at Phoenix Suns

WHERE: US Airways Center in Phoenix

WHEN: Sunday, April 6 at 3:30 PM ET

BetUS NBA basketball betting matchup:

In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:

* PHX has won and covered three of the last four meetings

* Three of the last four meetings have gone OVER the total

* PHX has had the shooting edge in each of the last five meetings

* DALL has had the rebounding edge in nine of the last ten meetings

* PHX has made more three-pointers in seven of the last ten meetings

Dallas is solid at the free throw line, ranking second in the NBA at 81.3%. The Mavericks have averaged 10.8 offensive rebounds a game. Also:

* DALL has lost five of its last eight games SU

* DALL has covered two of its last eight games

* DALL has played six of its last nine games UNDER the total

* DALL has lost five of its last seven road games SU

* DALL has played five of its last seven road games OVER the total

(Trends through April 3)

Steve Nash-led Phoenix has racked up 26.9 assists per game. The Suns have averaged only 8.7 offensive rebounds per contest, but that is partially a by-product of the fact that they make their shots so well (50%). Also:

* PHX has won 10 of its last 13 games SU

* PHX is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 games

* PHX has played five of its last seven games OVER the total

* PHX has won and covered its last six home games

* PHX has played four of its last five home games OVER the total

(Trends through April 3)

Dallas is the team that really needs this game, because the Mavs' playoff lives are at stake. And they have come out with some urgency on the defensive side, giving up 86 points apiece in a pair of games against the Clippers and, of all people, the high-flying Golden State Warriors. that's not a bad sign. An even better sign is that this team has now gotten Dirk Nowitzki back into the lineup, and he came back with an 18-point performance in 27 minutes.

That may serve as a counter-balance to Shaquille O'Neal, who has come on board to give Phoenix more beef. But people around the Dallas camp are getting some encouragement by that romp over Golden State (by a margin of 25 points).

I like the fact that Dallas seems to be raising the bar a little on defense. Kidd has the potential to improve a team that was already pretty formidable in that area. But Phoenix has been on a six-game cover streak at home going into the weekend games, and Dallas' win over the Warriors was the first time in 11 games since Jason Kidd arrived that they have beaten a team with a winning record.

We'll lay points with the Suns in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
