Charlotte looked good for a while last night and then faded a little bit late in the game to lose the cover against Minnesota. That followed a 101-78 loss to a Boston team that was resting Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, which Sam Vincent blamed on fatigue issues from the night before in Toronto.
So now after being pushed at home, the Bobcats travel again for the second end of a back-to-back against the Knicks, who seem to be playing hard for about the first time all year. New York has actually won a couple of games in a row, and they're doing it using players who feel they have something to prove. Lately it's been David Lee, the hustling rebounding machine out of the University of Florida. And Wilson Chandler, a rookie from DePaul, has scored 23 and 19 points in consecutive games, the two highest outputs of his season.
Those players offer encouraging signs, not necessarily for Isiah Thomas, who is likely to be out of a job soon, but for new team president Donnie Walsh. Charlotte does not have all hands on deck, as Gerald Wallace will miss what remains of the season with his groin pull.
So we'll go with the Knicks, the 2.5-point favorite in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
