NBA Betting - Portland Trailblazers (+ 8) vs. Boston Celtics (- 8)

Could this game be a peek into the future? Boston is a virtual lock to make it to the NBA Finals this year unless Detroit decides to keep their head of our ass. Portland has been the hottest team in the NBA betting recently.

Some trends:

The Portland Trailblazers are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 games off of one day of rest.

The Portland Trailblazers are 9 and 2 against the spread in their last 11 games as an UNDERDOG.

The Portland Trailblazers are 18 and 4 against the spread in their last 22 games overall.

The Boston Celtics are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 games following a straight-up loss.

I believe that this is a key game for the Celtics when it comes to the spread. If they can cover the 8 points, then maybe they will turn their against the spread fortunes around.

The Blazers are solid in the sense that they have been able to both cover or beat spreads this season. Boston has become, like the Spurs, one of those difficult straight-up winning teams. At times they blow spreads out of the building. At other times they can’t cover the most obvious spreads.

That makes Boston a tough wager in this spot. They’re playing one of the better teams from the Western Conference. I would much prefer a spread of 4 or 5 points, but giving up 8 to the Blazers might just be too many points.

I’m going to have to take the Blazers and the 8 in tonight’s game. That’s the logical thing to do based on trends.
