NBA Basketball Betting Odds – New Jersey Nets at Indiana Pacers
By Eric Williams
The New Jersey Nets, (31-41 SU, 29-41-2 ATS, 34-36-2 O/U), have won two consecutive games in the BetUS.com Sportsbook coming into tonight’s matchup and are getting accustomed to young point guard Devin Harris leading their offense.
The Nets beat the Indiana Pacers, (29-43 SU, 33-38-1 ATS, 38-30-4 O/U) on Wednesday n the opening game of this home-and-home series while putting up a hopping 124 points on the Pacers but allowing the Pacers to score 117 themselves.
The Nets are a half-game behind the eighth-place Atlanta Hawks in the race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference but realize they need to get their defensive problems corrected in a hurry.
"Especially on the road, defensively, we have to be a whole lot sharper," Nets head coach Lawrence Frank said. "These games are going to be highly contested and each game is going to be a fight."
The Pacers are still on the fringe of the playoffs themselves, just 2 1/2 games behind the Hawks.
"It's been a disappointing season for us, but with 10 games to go we have a chance to salvage it and make the playoffs," Pacers center Jeff Foster said.
The Nets are just 5-5 in their last ten games but have covered the spread in six of ten over the same span.
Indiana has also won five of their last ten games but has gone just 4-5-1 against the spread over the same span.
Here’s a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my NBA Betting Picks.
The Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
The Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four vs. Eastern Conference.
The Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games.
The Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on one days rest.
The Over is 4-0 in Nets last four games following a S.U. win.
The Over is 7-0-1 in Pacers last eight Friday games.
The Over is 7-0 in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
The Nets are 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
Analysis: The Pacers are certainly looking to return the favor off Wednesday night’s loss to the Nets but may come up short in their efforts as the Nets are just the slightly better team in this matchup. While the Pacers could still manage a close victory in this contest, I say take the Nets to cover and possibly win outright.
