NBA Basketball Betting Odds – New Jersey Nets at Detroit Pistons
By Eric Williams
Just one week ago, the New Jersey Nets, (31-44 SU, 30-43-2 ATS, 36-37-2 O/U), were in a race to claim the final postseason spot in the eastern conference, now, the Nets are watching their season go down the drain, mired in a heap of futility.
The Nets have lost three consecutive games in the BetUS Sportsbook, including Tuesday's 108-99 loss to the red-hot Philadelphia 76ers and will be facing a Detroit Pistons, (53-21 SU, 39-34-1 ATS, 33-40-1 O/U), team that has won three straight including a 94-90 win over the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves as they rested three of their regular starters.
The Nets are four games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with seven games remaining.
"We have to think we have an opportunity regardless of how many games we have left to play," said enigmatic Nets forward Vince Carter. "We have to find a way. We have to think positive. It's still there for the taking."
"Until we get eliminated, you have to stay optimistic," forward Richard Jefferson told the Nets' official Web site. "You keep have to fighting hard, you can't get down.
Detroit rested starters Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace against the young Timberwolves, hoping the move will help to keep the players’ legs fresh heading into the playoffs.
"With 'Sheed, Chauncey and Rip, all three of those guys played through the All-Star game and haven't had any rest," Saunders said. "Our schedule's been all over the place. There's been more back-to-backs than anybody as far as in the league.
"We're in a situation that it's a good time for them to get a rest. How much they rest down the stretch, we'll have to wait and see."
The Nets have won just four of their last ten games but have gone a respectable 6-4 against the spread over the same span.
The Pistons have gone 1-3 against the spread in their last four games.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my NBA Betting Picks.
