NBA Basketball Betting Odds - Golden State vs. New Orleans
By D.S Williamson
Is it possible that Golden State, a team on their way to 50 wins, won’t make the Western Conference Playoffs? Yes, it is very possible. Now that the Dallas Mavericks threw all of us BetUS NBA bettors a curve ball by bringing back Dirk Nowitzki, the Warriors are in deep water. They aren’t as good as Dallas or Denver, the two teams that they are fighting for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, and don’t get a break this Sunday when they have to take on the New Orleans Hornets.
The Hornets are very good, but need to maintain focus in order to keep that number one seed in the West. New Orleans does not want to give up home-court to the San Antonio Spurs. They must keep winning.
Because of that I’m going to predict that the BetUS line in this game falls around New Orleans Hornets - 6.5 to – 8.5. I’m going to predict the BetUS over/under to fall around 230 or so. That’s 115 points from each team. Let’s take a look at some trends not counting Friday and/or Saturday games.
The New Orleans Hornets are 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 overall games.
The Over is 19-16-2 in all of the New Orleans Hornets’ home games so far this season.
The Golden State Warriors are 5 and 5 against the spread in their last 10 overall games.
The Over is 18-19-1 in all of the Golden State Warriors’ away games so far this season.
Because I’m predicting a huge BetUS over/under, I’m not going to think any more about that wager. The Warriors always face a huge over/under and it’s hard to tell when a game will go over or under with them. Sometimes the Warriors go crazy. Sometimes they can barely score over 90 points. There’s just no telling what will happen.
One thing is for sure in this game, however, and that’s that the New Orleans Hornets will be very, very keyed up to win. First, they will be on national television. Second, they will be at home. Third, Byron Scott is the best coach in the NBA right now.
Finally, the nail in the coffin is the fact that point-guard Chris Paul can more than handle his own against the Warriors best player, point-guard Barron Davis. Both of these guys are top NBA players, but Paul is just better at home.
The BetUS predicted line is New Orleans Hornets – 6.5 to – 8.5 at home against the Golden State Warriors.
If no injuries occur for both team, and the BetUS line falls within 6.5 to 8.5, then I’m betting the Hornets to cover.
