NBA Basketball Wagering - Golden State Warriors at Utah Jazz
By Eric Williams
While the Golden State Warriors, (32-20 SU, 23-30 ATS, 29-22-1 O/U), are playing excellent basketball at the moment, having won three consecutive games and seven of ten prior to the all-star break, they will have their work cut out against the red-hot Utah Jazz, (34-19 SU, 28-25 ATS, 27-26 O/U), winners of nine of their last ten, 16 of 18 and twelve consecutive home contests.
We've turned it up," forward Carlos Boozer said after getting his first career triple-double in Utah's 112-93 win at Seattle last Wednesday. "The (likely) Jason Kidd trade to Dallas, the Shaq trade to Phoenix, the Pau Gasol trade to the Lakers - the West is much improved. We have to keep up."
The Warriors have been boosted by the addition of veteran forward Chris Webber and have won 12 of its last 16 to move 12 games over .500 for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Still, the Warriors know they need to continue playing at a high level as they are tied with
Denver and
Houston for the Western conference’s seventh seed.
That was our goal to be 10 games above .500 going into the All-Star break and give ourselves a chance," point guard and tea leader Baron Davis said recently. "That was our goal and we're ahead of schedule."
Despite their recent on-court success, the Warriors have struggled to cover the spread in the BetUS.com Sportsbook, going an absolutely abysmal 2-8 against the spread in their last ten games, including four straight ATS losses coming into this matchup.
The Jazz have done much better against the spread for the BetUS.com NBA Wagering Community, going 7-3 against the spread in their last ten.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my analysis and NBA Wagering Free Picks:
The Warriors are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.
The Jazz are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
The Over is 5-0 in Warriors last 5 games following a S.U. win.
The Under is 4-0 in Jazz last 4 games as a home favorite.
The Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
Analysis: I think the best bet in this contest tonight is to take the over as both of these teams will be running and gunning from the start of this contest. However, I also like the Warriors to cover the seven-point spread in a close, but losing effort. Take the Warriors and the Over and you’ll be a happy camper come tomorrow morning – or late tonight, depending on your bedtime.
