NASCAR Betting - UAW-Ford 500 Odds

Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin are still technically a part of the 2007 Chase for the Nextel Cup, but if those two drivers want to stay within shouting distance of the leaders they'll have to come up with big performances this weekend in the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. So for those thinking about doing a bit of NASCAR betting on the event, where can Kenseth and Hamlin be found on the BetUS auto racing odds list?

Kenseth is currently listed at 16/1 odds to get the win at Talladega on the weekend, while Hamlin is back of him at 18/1 odds. Kenseth is 219 points behind Chase leader Jimmie Johnson and in 11th place in the standings, while Hamlin is 248 points behind Johnson and in 12th. Jeff Burton, who is at 30/1 to win this week, is 10th in the Chase.

So who's the favorite to get the win at Talladega Speedway? It's not points leader Johnson, even though he did win the Aaron's 499 at that track back in 2006. And it's not five-time Talladega winner Jeff Gordon (2007, 2005, 2004, 2000, and 1996), who sits six points behind Johnson in second place in the Chase standings. No, the favorite is actually Tony Stewart, who will be looking for his first Cup win at that track at 17/4 odds. Stewart sits fourth in the current Chase standings, 117 points behind Johnson. Gordon is pegged at 9/2 odds to visit victory lane this week, with Johnson back of him at 6/1 odds.

Clint Bowyer is third in the Chase standings, just 14 points behind Johnson – however, the NASCAR odds for the week have him only at 30/1. The other Chase for the Nextel Cup drivers and their odds to win at Talladega on the weekend – Kevin Harvick (11/1), Kyle Busch (12/1), Carl Edwards (18/1), Martin Truex Jr. (20/1), and Kurt Busch (12/1). Harvick finished sixth in Kansas last week and moved up four places in the standings.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not in contention to win the Nextel Cup this season, but he'll still be gunning for his sixth career win at Talladega Superspeedway. Dale Jr. won the EA Sports 500 on that track in 2004, and also picked up wins there in 2003, 2002 (twice), and 2001. The oddsmakers at BetUS currently have Earnhardt Jr. pegged at 8/1 odds.

Other non-Chase drivers and their lines to win the UAW-Ford 500 – Jamie McMurray (20/1), Ryan Newman (28/1), Casey Mears (28/1), David Gilliland (50/1), and Juan Montoya (50/1). Greg Biffle won the LifeLock 400 in Kansas last week, and he'll be looking for a second straight win at 30/1 odds. The Field, meanwhile, is pegged at 15/1.
