MLB Sunday Baseball Betting - St. Louis vs. San Francisco
By D.S. Williamson
One of the top teams in the N.L. the St. Louis Cardinals, start Brad Thompson in the fourth game of their series versus the San Francisco Giants this Sunday. Like every pitcher in the Cardinals’ rotation, Thompson is solid. He won his first start of the season with an ERA of 2.53. In two starts this season, Thompson has given up 12 hits and only 3 runs. Like all of manager Tony LaRussa’s teams, the Cardinals are absolutely solid defensively.
The Giants actually start their best pitcher in this game, Tim Lincecum. In two starts this year, Lincecum has given up only 10 hits and 2 runs. He is every bit as good as Thompson. That’s a rare thing to say about a player for the San Francisco Giants. Lincecum won his first start of the year with an ERA of 1.83.
Here are my personal betting lines.
St. Louis Cardinals
Brad Thompson – R + 1 ½ - 125 + 115 O 6 ½
San Francisco Giants
Tim Lincecum – R - 1 ½ + 145 - 125 U 6 ½
There is an absolute standout wager in this game should the BetUS lines end up close to what I have listed above.
That’s the BetUS under. Both Thompson and Lincecum are terrific pitchers. Furthermore, neither team has the huge bats. Sure, the Cardinals have Albert “The Fats” Pujols on their team, but after Albert they don’t have a whole lot. The Cardinals are very good at manufacturing runs. I doubt they will get a chance to manufacture all that many against a pitcher of Lincecum’s ability.
The Giants simply don’t have a whole lot of power. They require pitchers to make mistakes for them to get runs on the board. That means that they will have to win this game by a four run, or less then a four run, margin.
One of these teams shouldn’t score more than a single run in this game. Because of that I do believe that the BetUS over/under will be very playable in this game.
If the BetUS over/under is at 6 ½ or more, then I do believe that the under is the play.
The other wager I would consider is getting plus money on the St. Louis Cardinals to win this game outright. If the BetUS money-line ends up on the plus side for the Cardinals, then I believe they are a good wager to win this game straight-up.
