MLB Online Baseball Betting - White Sox vs. Blue Jays
By Mike Rose
Non-divisional online betting action kicks up for both clubs Friday evening when the (14-12) and first place Chicago White Sox head north of the border to tango with the last place (12-17) Toronto Blue Jays. The White Sox had a off day on Thursday to digest the two-game sweep they suffered against the Minnesota Twins earlier in the week. They come into this game losers in their L/10 overall going a mediocre 4-6. Toronto closed out its nine-game road trip with a win at Boston Thursday evening to avoid the sweep, but the win was only their second in their last 10 games. Chicago has churned out a positive mark on the road winning seven of its 13 overall games, while the Blue Jays come in under .500 in their own ballpark at 5-7. This will be the first meeting between these clubs in 2008. Chicago took the season series a year ago, 5-4, and split their six games at the Rogers Centre.
Getting the starting nod for the visitors will be lefty Mark Buehrle who’s had a rough go of it to start his ’08 campaign. Currently, he’s 1-2 with a 5.65 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. He’s allowed 38 hits and 19 runs (18 earned) with a K/BB ratio of 16/8. He’ll be throwing on five days rest since he last took the ball against Baltimore back on April 26th in the Palehose 6-5 victory. Since getting destroyed in his season opener against Cleveland, Buehrle’s actually pitched very well putting forth quality starts in three of his last four. Chicago’s had tons of success going 7-2 whenever he’s toed the bump against Toronto. Personally, Buehrle is 3-2 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in nine career starts against the Blue Jays. He split both of his starts against them last season winning 2-0 at home, and losing by the same final count at Toronto.
He will be opposed by righty Shaun Marcum who comes into this start 2-2 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. He’s coming off a tough luck loss against Kansas City that saw him allow just four hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work in the 2-1 loss. Four of his five starts this season would be designated as quality, but the offense has had a dramatic impact on his record. It’s been hit or miss whenever he’s gotten the start, so he’ll be hoping his mates can scratch across a few runs for him to work with. He’s only faced Chicago twice and had mixed results in each start. He got hit pretty hard in his start at home, but dominated the White Sox at US Cellular Field. The Jays won both games and he owns a 1-0 mark with a 3.27 ERA and 0.82 WHIP against them.
Toronto opened –135 home chalks with the ‘total’ set at 8.5 for the first game of this weekend series. You can get down on both the ‘side’ and ‘total’ at BetUS.com right now!!!
