MLB Wagering – Rockies Seek Revenge Against Diamondbacks
By Eric Williams
Getting knocked out of the 2007 playoffs in the NLCS by the Colorado Rockies, (4-5) seems to have worked wonders for the Arizona Diamondbacks, (7-2) this season as the club enters tonight’s contest riding a six-game winning streak that includes two, three-games sweeps, first over the Rockies in Colorado, followed by their sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers that concluded with Thursday night’s close 4-3 home win.
The Rockies are also playing solid baseball, winning three consecutive games in the BetUS Sportsbook after snapping a five-game skid though the Diamondbacks swept them by outscoring Colorado 20-5 in the three-game series.
"This sets the tone for the year, just coming here and winning three games at their place, especially after what they did to us last year," Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds said after Sunday's victory.
The Diamondbacks are batting .321 with 43 runs scored and 12 home run during their winning streak.
"It's a scrappy team that happens to be able to hit some home runs, too," said Eric Byrnes. "I know we hit a lot of home runs in those first two games, but I think the greatest thing about this team is we can win games in different fashions."
The D-Backs will send staff ace and perennial Cy Young contender Brandon Webb (2-0, 2.08 ERA) to the mound as he looks to continue his strong start after a mediocre spring. Webb has allowed just three earned runs in 13 innings in winning his first two starts of the season.
The 2006 NL Cy Young Award winner limited the Rockies to just two runs on five hits in seven innings of Saturday's 7-2 win over Colorado.
Rockies starter Jeff Francis (0-1, 7.11) looks to rebound from an atrocious first start of the season as he gave up five runs on 12 hits - including three long balls in 6 1/3 innings.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my MLB Wagering Free Picks:
