MLB Baseball Betting – Who’s Not Hot In BetUS Sportsbook Baseball?
By Mike Rose
Detroit Tigers (0-6) (-$1015.00) This overhyped and overpriced cast of characters from Motown fell flat on its face throughout the first week of the regular season, and cost its backers plenty of loot in the process. The offense that will no doubt find its stroke at some point in the season only managed to scratch across an average of 2.5 runs per game (#28), hit at a .245 clip (#20), and only went yard four times (#24) throughout its first six games. In this line-up littered with All Stars, Brandon Inge leads the team with two HR’s. Along with the Tigers poor hitting came the poor pitching that saw the Tigers get only one quality start from Kenny Rogers who pitched 6 innings of 5 hit ball in their 4-0 loss to Kansas City. Overall: The pitching staff has a 5.30 ERA (#27), a WHIP of 1.50 (#23), and only 35 K’s in 54 innings of work. Hopefully the Tigers turn things around on the road away from their now demanding fans.

San Francisco Giants (1-6) (-$469.00) The genesis of the Giants life without Barry Bonds got off to a very rough start this past week that saw them lose six of their seven overall games. Offensively, this club was inept ranking either dead last or second to last in a number of categories. Their 2.29 runs per game average comes in at #29, and their whopping total of two home runs comes in dead last at #30. It’s been just as bad in the pitching department as well. Their team WHIP of 1.79 is the worst in the big leagues (#30), and they’re yet to receive a quality start from any of their starters. Only two other clubs have a worse team ERA than the Giants who ring in at a lofty 5.98 (#28). The lone bright spot has been the pitching staff’s ability to get outs via the strikeout with 48 (#12).
Seattle Mariners (2-5) (-$420.00) The Mariners look to still be playing spring ball even though the season has already started. Somebody wake this team up and tell them the games actually count now! What was a fantastic hitting club a year ago regressed this past week averaging a poor 3.86 runs per game (#19), with a bothersome batting average of .225 (#27) and OPS of .700 (#20). In their four-game sweep at the hands of the Orioles this past weekend, the Mariners scored four runs three times to make it four runs in five of their seven games this year. That’s just not going to get it done in the offensively stacked American League. The pitching department was below average as well, which is the main reason why they’re playing .286 ball to start to the season.
Philadelphia Phillies (3-4) (-$358.00) If not for their huge comeback against the Nationals in the finale of their three game set in Citizens Bank, the Phillies would be lower on the “not” totem pole. That said, this club has once again gotten off to a poor start in April, but that looks to be the story for the entire NL East as Florida sits atop the division with a 4-3 mark. The hitting has been just fine as Philly is averaging a healthy 4.57 runs per game (#13) and blasted 11 home runs (#11), but the pitching and defense have been woeful. The teams 4.62 ERA comes in ranked 25th, and they’ve already committed nine errors, which ranks them second to last at #29 in that category. Its bloated 5.57 bullpen ERA (#21) hasn’t helped matters either.
Colorado Rockies (2-5) (-$358.00) The defending National League champs offense is just nowhere to be found. They enter this week’s play ranked dead last in runs per game (1.71) and batting average (.204), and boast the leagues second worst OPS of .610. It’s hard to win when you’re barely scoring two runs per game, but it’s almost impossible when your pitching staff hasn’t held up its end of the bargain either. The Rockies starting pitching staff owns a bloated 4.35 ERA (#22) and WHIP of 1.55 (#25), and the bullpen’s been atrocious in relief sporting a 5.23 ERA. Don’t expect this club to get back to its winning ways of last season until one of these deficiencies is fixed.
