MLB Betting - Final Weekend Preview
by BetUS Staff
The American League’s four postseason teams have been decided, but the National League’s playoff participants are still up in the air as baseball enters its final weekend of the regular season. That means those doing some baseball betting over the next few days will have to keep an eye on each game’s value before putting down their cash on one of the teams. Here’s a look at all the series coming up featuring the contenders.
New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles
The Yankees locked up a postseason berth over the past week, and knocked the Detroit Tigers out of playoff contention at the same time. Now New York will be looking to get its playoff rotation in order as they finish out their schedule against the lowly O’s.
Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox had looked like a sure thing to post the American League’s best record earlier in the season, but now they’re going to have to hold off the Cleveland Indians (and maybe the Los Angeles Angels as well) for that particular honor and all its benefits.
Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals
The Tribe can’t make it to 100 wins this season, but they can still pad their win total by knocking around the last-place Royals on the weekend. The Indians were tied with the BoSox at 94 wins heading into play Thursday night, and the AL’s top record is in reach.
Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics
The Angels cruised to the AL West division title, thanks in large part to the late-season collapse of the Seattle Mariners. With the league’s top mark a longshot, watch for Los Angeles to rest some key players this weekend and get set for their postseason games.
Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies
Who’d have thought this would be a key series six months ago? The Diamondbacks are trying to hold on and win the NL West, while the Rockies have been red hot and are trying to sneak into the playoffs as well. Both of these clubs will be doing some serious scoreboard watching over the next few days, with the San Diego Padres a big concern.
San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers
The Padres and Brewers aren’t in the same division, but they’re going to have to go at each other like division rivals this weekend. San Diego would like to win the NL West, but they’d settle for the NL Wild Card as well. Milwaukee is no longer a contender for the league’s Wild Card spot, so they’ll need to topple the Chicago Cubs in the division.
Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds
The Cubs have the advantage in the NL Central division but with no Wild Card potential for them either, they’ll have to take care of business against the Reds over the weekend.
Florida Marlins at New York Mets
The Mets have been trying to give away the NL East division title over the past couple of weeks, and the Marlins would have no trouble knocking them off on the weekend in the role of spoiler. If New York should fall into second place the Wild Card is still in play.
Washington Nationals at Philadelphia Phillies
In order to climb past the Mets, the Phillies will have to beat the Nationals over the weekend and hope for some Marlins victories. Philadelphia, though, is also a top contender for the NL Wild Card, and they’ll be looking for the NL West teams to slump.
Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros
The Braves sat four games back of first place in the NL East and four games back of the NL Wild Card spot heading into play on Thursday, so by the time you read this they’ve probably been eliminated from playoff contention. Maybe next year, Atlanta fans.
