MLB Betting - Boston Red Sox (31-14) vs. New York Yankees (20-24)

Tonight, Curt Schilling and Andy Pettitte lock up in a rubber-match of a three-game series as the New York Yankees (20-24) host the Boston Red Sox (31-14) on ESPN.

Schilling (4-1, 3.57) takes the ball for Boston, looking to build on his club's double-digit East divisional lead over the Yankees in a rematch of an April 20 contest in Boston. Schilling allowed five runs and eight hits, including two homers in seven innings, but the Red Sox rallied with five runs in the bottom of the eighth and won 7-6.

Schilling is riding a four-game winning streak, but has not recorded a decision in either of his last two outings. The 40-year-old right-hander labored through six innings against Detroit on Thursday, throwing 118 pitches while giving up eight hits and four walks but only yielded two runs as Boston won 4-2.

Pettitte (2-3, 2.83) made three starts and one relief appearance against Boston in April, going 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA in those outings. He took the loss at home April 27, when he allowed five runs, six hits and five walks in 4 2-3 innings of the Yankees' 11-4 loss to the Red Sox. The Yankees are 1-4 in Pettitte's last five starts vs. Red Sox.

The left-hander has yielded three runs or fewer in each of his four starts since then, but has only a 1-2 record. In his last outing, he limited the Mets to three runs over seven innings on Friday, but received just two runs of support as the Yankees fell 3-2.

The first-place Red Sox have won six of the eight meetings this year. As well, Boston is 5-2 in the last seven games played in the Bronx.

New York and Boston own the American League’s top two batting lineups and share very similar numbers at the plate. Over is 7-0 in Schilling's last seven starts vs. Yankees. However, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in New York.

The Yankees come into tonight's contest as the slight favorites of -127 with a total of 9.5 under -125. The Yankees are 22-6 in their last 28 games as a home favorite of -110 to -150 but they are 2-5 in their last seven as the favorites overall.
