MLB Baseball Betting - White Sox vs. Orioles
By Mike Rose
The sports betting community is starting to buy into the Sox. The (8-5) first place Chicago White Sox concluded its seven-game home stand with a nice win over the Oakland Athletics yesterday afternoon. The win allowed them to win or tie their last four series after dropping two of three to the Cleveland Indians to start the season. They got a heck of a start from lefty John Danks who pitched 7 2/3rd innings of five-hit ball allowing no earned runs while striking out four and walking two. It was a great start to MLB online betting as well as a great start to the season. This effort came just one game after he got blown up by the Minnesota Twins garnering his first loss of the season.
His offense plated three in the 4th and another in the 5th giving him all he needed to pick up his first win of the season. Scott Linebrink relieved him in the 8th and Bobby Jenks sealed the deal in the 9th to secure his 5th save of the campaign. The O’s looked to sweep the short two-game stint against the Blue Jays last night, but right-handed junkballer Steve Trachsel got lit up from the get go never giving his team a shot to compete. He only lasted 2 1/3rd innings surrendering five hits and five earned runs, and the offense only mustered six hits overall in the 11-3 whitewashing.

Getting Chicago’s starting nod this evening will be Jose Contreras. He showed improvement in his second start of the season last Friday against the Detroit Tigers even though he was handed the loss. He went 6 2/3rd innings surrendering six hits and four earned runs with a K/BB ratio of 2/3. However, three of those runs and four of those hits came in the third inning before giving up one more in the seventh forcing him to get yanked. In his career against Baltimore, he's 3-4 with a 5.50 ERA, and he's 1-1 with a 7.00 ERA at Camden Yards.
O’s southpaw Adam Loewen has gotten off to a rough start to his ’08 campaign. He comes into tonight’s match-up off a no decision in the doubleheader they played against Texas last week. He gave up six hits and four earned runs with a K/BB ratio of 4/4 in just five innings of work. He gets the starting nod on six days of rest for his first career start against the Chicago White Sox.
Oddsmakers opened Baltimore up as short –115 home chalks with the ‘total’ set at 9.5 under –120 for the first game of this short two-game set. You can get down at these current process at BetUS.com right now!
Recent history shows this as being a higher scoring series as the over is 9-3 the L/12 overall meetings, and 10-2-1 the L/13 times they’ve squared off within Camden Yards. Some gaudy SU streaks will be matched up here as the White Sox are 6-0 their L/6 games as an underdog, and 4-0 in Contreras’ L/4 when installed an underdog. As for the O’s, they’re 5-0 their L/5 as a home chalk and 6-1 in Loewen’s L/7 starts as a favorite.
