MLB Baseball Wagering - Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets
by D.S Williamson
The Rangers take on the Mets in this interleague game where both teams figure to try hard but not put everything on the line in order to win. The Rangers aren’t doing very well in the American League, but the Mets appear to have turned things around in the National League. The Mets send pitcher Pedro Martinez to the mound. Since this is an interleague game, whether Martinez pitches badly or not won’t have an affect on when manager Willie Randolph pulls him. For online baseball betting fans, however, how many innings Martinez pitches could really affect the outcome. Martinez has had a terrible season thus far with only a 1 – 0 record and an ERA of 6.91. Pedro just needs to retire, but it isn’t my job to tell him!
The Rangers counter Pedro with pitcher Doug Mathis. Mathis isn’t exactly dropping dollar bills into the pockets of MLB betting and sports betting fans. His record is a goofy 2 and 1. His ERA is a ridiculous 7.52
Here are my personal online betting odds for this game:
Texas Rangers
Doug Mathis – R + 1 ½ - 160 + 155 O 10 ½ - 120
New York Mets
Pedro Martinez – R - 1 ½ + 125 - 135 U 10 ½ Ev
Here are a few online wagering trends not counting Friday’s games that might help us find a good online bet in this game:
The Texas Rangers are 4 and 1 in their last 5 games during game 2 of a series.
The Texas Rangers are 5 and 2 in their last 7 games versus a team from the National League East Division.
The New York Mets are 5 and 0 in their last 5 interleague games.
The New York Mets are 1 and 6 in Pedro Martinez’s last 7 interleague starts.
There is a rumor that Kason Gabbard will start for the Rangers and not Doug Mathis. If it is Gabbard then…well, nothing really changes in my eyes.
I just don’t believe that Mets’ manager Willie Randolph will use up Pedro Martinez in an interleague game. That means that no matter how well Martinez may look out there, Randolph is pulling him at the first sign of trouble.
The best thing to do in this game is to wait and see what the odds are on the Rangers’ pitcher. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Gabbard or Mathis. There might be a nice online run-line wager in this game.
I like the Rangers to win this game straight-up as well. Hopefully, the Rangers will be going off at a nice price. Randolph will take it easy on his team in this one which should open the door for the Rangers to succeed.
The Rangers should prevail and a bet will be in order no matter what the online odds are.
