MLB Baseball Wagering Picks - Nationals at Braves

by Eric Williams

Despite winning their last two games prior to the annual All-Star break, the Atlanta Braves, (45-50, 50-45 RL) come into tonight’s baseball betting matchup against the Washington Nationals, (36-60, 50-46 RL) looking to snap a three-game skid against one of the worst teams in all of baseball this season.

Atlanta, 5-5 in its last ten games in the BetUS Sportsbook before the break, has gone just 3-5 against the Nationals this season, scoring just three total runs during their three-game losing streak.

The Braves will try to get their third straight win for the BetUS MLB online sports wagering community by handing the ball to veteran right-hander Tim Hudson, (9-7, 3.13 ERA) who tossed one scoreless inning of relief on Sunday against the San Diego Padres, after going 1-2 in his three previous starts covering 19.0 innings. Hudson has also gone an unimpressive 2-4 with three no decisions in his last nine starts.

Washington counters with staff ace Tim Redding (7-3, 3.85 ERA) who has been throwing the ball extremely well for Washington, despite his team’s horrific record.

Redding has not allowed more than two earned runs in four of his last six starts, though he had gone through a nine-start decision-less streak before winning on Friday while shutting out the Houston Astros on seven hits in six innings of Washington's 10-0 victory.

Just 2-8 in their last ten games, the Nationals have dropped two straight games and three of their last four overall.

"We need a few more guys to step it up," Nationals manager Manny Acta said. "Right now, we're battling on almost every at-bat."

Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.

The Nationals are 4-0 in Redding’s last four starts with the total set at 7.0-8.5.

The Nationals are 9-0 in Redding’s last nine starts after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.

The Braves are 5-1 in Hudson’s last six starts as a home favorite of -151 to -200.

The Braves are 21-5 in Hudson’s last 26 home starts vs. a team with a losing record.

The Over is 5-0 in Redding’s last five starts with the total set at 7.0-8.5.

The Under is 6-0 in Hudson’s last six Friday starts.

The Braves are 6-1 in Hudson’s last seven starts vs. Nationals.

The Under is 5-1-1 in Hudson’s last seven starts vs. Nationals.

Analysis: The Braves are the correct pick to win this contest behind veteran Tim Hudson, despite the fact that Hudson has been mediocre at best in most of his last nine starts, though he has limited opponents to just three total runs over his last two starts covering 14.0 innings.
