MLB Baseball Betting – Phillies to Bounce Back From Home Loss

After predicting each of the first two online betting games in this series between the Philadelphia Phillies, (15-13, 14-14 O/U) and San Diego Padres, (11-17, 12-15-1 O/U) correctly in the BetUS Locker Room the past two days, including last night’s 4-2 win by the Padres, I am back to finish off this three-game series with one final winning wager for tonight’s matchup in the BetUS Sportsbook.

The Phillies will look to pick up their second win in the series tonight by sending out mediocre veteran right-handed starter Adam Eaton, hoping for a better performance than he delivered in his last outing un which he allowing three runs on five hits including a home run in just 3 2/3 innings, despite being given a 6-0 lead, though the Phillies held on to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5.

Eaton went an uninspiring 10-10 for Philadelphia last season with a whopping 6.29 ERA.

"I wasn't happy, obviously," Eaton told the team's official Web site. "With a big lead like that, you'd like to get out there as long as you can."

The Phillies will be facing their former long time starter in left-hander Randy Wolf, (2-1, 3.68 ERA) who went 9-6 last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4.73 ERA while battling a shoulder injury.

"It's going to be exciting and kind of weird," Wolf told the Padres' official Web site. "A lot of the guys over there I played with. Of course, when you're competing against guys you're friends with, then it makes for an interesting experience. I'm excited. Obviously, with their lineup, it's a tough task. You have to be on your game."

Wolf will need to come through for the Padres much better than he did in his last outing as he got rocked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in Friday’s 5-1 loss, allowing all five runs on seven hits in just four innings.

Phillies All-Star second baseman Chase Utley leads the majors with 11 homers and is hitting a scorching .360 with 23 RBIs, hitting his 11th home run on Wednesday,

"He's the best hitter in baseball right now," Padres starter Chis Young said. "If you're gonna give up hits, you're better off giving them up to the best."

Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my analysis and MLB Gambling Free Picks:

The Padres are 5-2 in their last 7 vs. National League East.

The Padres are 3-7 in their last 10 road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.

The Phillies are 6-1 in their last 7 games following a loss.

The Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

The Under is 4-1 in Wolf’s last 5 starts overall.

The Under is 4-1 in Wolf’s last 5 starts on grass.

The Over is 6-0 in Eaton’s last 6 starts with 5 days of rest.

The Under is 5-0 in Eaton’s last 5 home starts.

The Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

The Padres are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Philadelphia.

Analysis: While Randy Wolf is the better starter in tonight’s matchup, I say take the Philadelphia Phillies to win this contest, fueled by their powerful offense. Expect a high-scoring affair tonight.
