MLB Baseball Wagering Action - Rangers vs. Angels
By D.S Williamson
The Texas Rangers travel to Anaheim to take on the L.A. Angels. Besides having the most annoying name in baseball, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim also have some worrying to do. One of their top pitchers, John Lackey, will be out for at least a month. That means that they have to start a guy named Dustin Moseley in this one. Excuse me if I don’t sound excited about Dustin. Moseley had eight starts but never threw more than six innings in a single game last year. His record ended up at 1 and 1 with a 4.20 ERA.
The Rangers counter Moseley with Kason Gabbard. In eight starts last year Gabbard was 2 and 1 with an ERA of 5.58. Neither of these pitchers looks like the goods. Let’s take a look at the BetUS MLB Betting lines before discussing further.
Texas Rangers
Kason Gabbard – L + 1 ½ - 150 + 145 O 9
L.A. Angels of Anaheim
Dustin Moseley – R - 1 ½ + 130 - 165 U 9
Okay, so now that we see the BetUS lines, things might come into perspective for us. First, the Angels could absolutely destroy the Rangers. Or, the Angels could lay an egg. It doesn’t help any of you, I know, but it’s the truth. The reason is simple. Nobody really knows how Dustin Moseley is going to pitch. Sure, Gabbard is good for giving up close to five runs, but what about Moseley?
Because the Rangers’ batting order is an absolute mess, they’ve got Milton Bradley as their DH, there’s no real way to figure out how the Angels will do in this game. My gut tells me that they dominate the Rangers, but I’ll have to put up way too many dollars to find that out.
Betting the Rangers straight-up to win at + 145 is difficult to do as well. I mean, these are the Rangers. This is Kason Gabbard - - the guy who had an ERA of 5.58 last season.
That leaves us staring at the BetUS over/under of 9 runs. That seems like a lot of runs, right? Then again, Gabbard did give up five runs to the Angels the last time he faced them. The Rangers won that game 8 to 7.
So we’re back where we started - - Dustin Moseley. How will Moseley fair in this game? Well, considering the fact that Moseley had an ERA of 4.20 last season and that the Rangers always seem to score runs against the Angels, I have to say that the BetUS over looks pretty good. Gabbard could get slammed in this thing - - the Angels racking up 7 on him is not out of the question - - and Moseley isn’t close to being a shut-down pitcher. I’m going to ride the over.
The BetUS Over/Under in the Texas Rangers versus Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game is 9 runs.
I like this thing to go over. The Angels have a good chance of scoring 10 runs just by themselves. The Rangers should put a few as well.
