MLB Baseball Betting Action - Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets

The Reds and Mets meet each other in a National League sports betting showdown that could tell us a lot about which team has the best chance of winning a wild card spot. The Philadelphia Phillies look fairly solid in the N.L. East right now. The Chicago Cubs look like the online betting team to beat in the N.L. Central. That leaves a teams like the Mets and Reds to beat each other up to make the postseason. The Reds send Matt Belisle to the mound for this Friday night game. To BetUS online sportsbook baseball bettors, Belisle isn’t exactly the guy that everybody has been waiting for. He rarely brings home a win and his ERA of 6.91 is atrocious.

The Mets send out Mike Pelfrey. Earlier this season, in his first three starts, Pelfrey was practically unhittable. In fact I was talking about the guy like he was the next coming of Dwight Gooden - - before the drugs, of course. Pelfrey hasn’t lived up to my monikers as his ERA has lifted to 5.27 and his record has gone from 2 and 0 to 2 and 2. More importantly, Pelfrey has struck out only 11 batters in five games and 27.1 innings.

Here are some online sportsbook trends that might help us find a wager in this game:

The Cincinnati Reds are 1 and 4 in their last 5 games following a day off.

The Cincinnati Reds are 0 and 5 in their last 5 games on the road.

The Under is 4 and 0 in the Cincinnati Reds last 4 games on a Friday night.

The New York Mets are 1 and 5 in their last 6 games versus a team from the N.L. Central.

The New York Mets are 3 and 7 in Mike Pelfrey’s last ten starts at home.

The Over is 4 and 1 in Mike Pelfrey’s last 5 starts at home.

This is another strange game where it is absolutely impossible to take either pitcher. Neither Mike Pelfrey nor Matt Belisle is doing an adequate job for their respective teams. What that means is that BetUS online betting aficionados need to take a closer look at both the BetUS over/under, at 9.5 runs, and the BetUS money-line where the Reds are + 150 and the New York Mets are – 158

When in doubt, it is always a good idea to take the team receiving odds.

In this case that team is the Cincinnati Reds. Even though the Reds have been sort of a disappointment so far this season, they are more than capable of beating the Mets on the road.

This is particularly true since the Mets’ pitcher, Mike Pelfrey, is starting to look more and more like a second tier pitcher every time he takes the mound.

The BetUS online sporstbook wager money-line on the Cincinnati Reds to beat the New York Mets is Reds + 150.

I like the online betting odds. I also like the fact that Mike Pelfrey hasn’t been at his best. I’ll take the Reds to win straight-up at those odds.
