MLB Baseball Betting - Seattle at L.A. Angels

BetUS MLB online baseball betting odds: Los Angeles -190, Seattle +160, Total 9 (Over -120, Under - Even)

The Seattle Mariners (9-8) continue their road trip on Friday night when they go to Anaheim to take on the Los Angeles Angels (10-7) in an American League game at Angel Stadium that is slated to begin at 10:05 PM ET.

Right-hander R.A. Dickey will get his first start of the season for Seattle, while the Angels will go with southpaw Joe Saunders (2-0, 1.27 ERA).

At BetUS Sportsbook, Los Angeles is listed as a -190 favorite (Seattle is +160), with a total of nine runs (Over is -120, while the Under is even money.

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

(NOTE: These trends may also revert back to the 2007 season)

* SEA has won seven of its last ten games

* SEA has won four of its last five road games

* SEA has played five of its last six road games UNDER the total

* LA has won four of its last five games

* LA has played six of its last seven games OVER the total

* LA has played four fo its last six home games OVER the total

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD baseball betting trends:

* LA has won four of the last six meetings as the visiting team

R.A. Dickey is positively one of the great stories in baseball. On the verge of signing a pro contract, he found out through a doctor that he was born without an ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow (the kind they correct in Tommy John surgery), and lost over $700,000 in bonus money. he bounced around the minors for a number of years, then, after developing the knuckleball, he got a start in April of 2006 against Detroit and wound up surrendering six home runs. Since then he had not seen big league action until just recently being called up by the Mariners. Dickey, unlike many other knuckleballers, often throws his pitch at a high spped (up to 81 mph), so it is something that is extremely hard to hit - if he can control it.

Saunders has been scintillating, and that kind of performance has come out of nowhere. Thus far he has shut down both the Twins and Indians, giving up one run in 167 combined innings, and in his last start, against the Mariners, he put in 5-1/3 innings and gave up two runs. Even though he had a 15-8 career record coming into the season, the Angels could never have foreseen such an outstanding start.

The knuckler is always a tough change of pace for a team to deal with, and if Dickey can overcome getting rattled so badly in that last disastrous start, he can make it very difficult on the Angels' bats. This is too steep a price with the favorite. We'll take Seattle, the +160 underdog in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
