MLB Baseball Betting - San Diego at Florida
By Charles Jay
BetUS MLB baseball betting odds: Florida -130, San Diego +110; Total 9 (Over -115, Under -105)
The Florida Marlins (15-13), smarting from a three-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will try to rebound on Friday night when they play host to the San Diego Padres (11-18) in a National League contest that is set to begin at 7:10 PM ET at Dolphin Stadium (natural turf) in Miami.
Mark Hendrickson (4-1, 3.68 ERA), a left-hander, will try to right the ship for the Marlins, while Justin Germano (0-2, 6.04 ERA) wll attempt to do some rebounding of his own for San Diego.
At BetUS Sportsbook, Florida is listed as a -130 favorite (San Diego is +110), with a total of nine runs (the Over is -115, while the Under is -105).

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD MLB betting trends:

Wednesday night's game represented a humiliation for Florida, as the Dodgers hit Scott Olsen and subsequent relief pitchers hard and often on their way to a 13-1 laugher. It was pathetic to the end, when less than a thousand spectators were left (myself among them). But the Marlins got no redemption on Thursday, with relief ace Kevin Gregg allowing two runs in the ninth and former Marlin Juan Pierre driving in a couple of runs as L.A. won by a 5-3 score to complete a three-game sweep.
Mark Hendrickson was brought aboard to be a potential staff ace for Florida and he has not been disappointing. Hendrickson, the former basketball player, had a rough outing on Opening Day but has kept the Marlins in every game since then. He had won four consecutive starts until a 4-3 loss to the Brewers on April 26, where he yielded one run and walked one batter in six innings. His last two starts against San Diego have been outstanding, as he's allowed just two runs and nine base runners in eleven innings of work.
The Padres actually won Justin Germano's last start, but the right-hander has not been strong in his last two outings. He started out with 13 scoreless innings over his first two starts, though in his hard luck he did not get a win. Germano surrendered ten runs in 3-1/3 innings against Houston on April 21, then came back five days later and allowed six runs in five innings against the D-Backs.
The Padres, until the 8-7 win over Arizona six days ago, had scored just six runs in Germano's previous four starts. And they're not scoring a lot of runs now - in fact, just 11 in their last four outings. We like Hendrickson to bring Florida back and within reach of first-place in the National League East, and will lay the short -130 price in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
JAY'S PLAY: FLORIDA (-130)
