MLB Baseball Betting Odds - Texas at N.Y. Yankees

The Texas Rangers (43-41) will seek their fourth win in five tries on Tuesday night as they will visit the Big Apple to play the New York Yankees (44-39) in American League sports betting action that begins at 7:05 PM ET at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
Right-handers go at it, as Kevin Millwood (5-4, 5.08 ERA) of the Rangers squares off against Joba Chamberlain (2-2, 2.03 ERA) of the Yankees.
At BetUS online sportsbook, New York is listed as a -230 online wagering favorite (Texas is +190), with a total of nine runs (the Over is -120, while the Under is even money).

For Texas, it's now six wins in nine games, as Scott Feldman outdueled Mike Mussina last night in a 2-1 Rangers victory. Actually, Feldman went 5-2/3 innings, while the Texas bullpen took care of things the rest of the way. Mussina struck out eight Texas batters in six innings, but it was not enough.
The Rangers are 6.5 games in back of the Angels in the American League West, but they are hanging in there pretty well. Meanwhile, the Yankees are five games over the .500-mark and are also 6.5 games behind the leaders in their division, the Tampa Bay Rays, who are contending with a much lower payroll.
Joba Chamberlain smoked enough people in his relief role for the Yanks, but as starter he has also been a smashing success. Chamberlain's last outing resulted in a 10-0 Yankee win, as he held the Pirates scoreless over 6-2/3 innings. In his two previous outings he limited the Astros and Padres to a run each. In Joba's last three starts, he has a 0.97 ERA and 18 strikeouts with just eight walks. After going just two innings in his first start of the season, New York has won the last four games Chamberlain has taken the ball.
Millwood is a grizzled, well-worn veteran who has been plagued with inconsistency. Since coming off the DL for a May 30 start against Oakland, he has a 5.35 ERA, and lately he has struggled with his strikeout-walk ratio. Last time out he gave up 12 hits and seven runs in just five innings against the Houston Astros.
Texas leads the league in scoring (5.5 runs per game) and the Yankees give up 4.8 per contest at home. But we are going to have a little faith in Chamberlain here, as well as skepticism about the Yankees' ability to score runs (tallying five in their last three games). For us, it's UNDER the nine-run total as it is posted in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
