MLB Baseball Betting - Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox

The White Sox avoided the three-game sweep at the hands of the NY Yankees last night in a rain soaked 7-6 victory. Their offense accumulated 10 total hits on the night, but none more important than Joe Crede’s RBI single in the bottom of the 9th to knock in Carlos Quentin to seal the deal. Gavin Floyd had his roughest outing of the season throwing six innings of five-hit and earned run ball, but the rain delays played a role in his ineffective start. The win improved their mark to 12-9 on the year, and they currently sit 2.5-games in front of the Cleveland Indians for the top spot in the AL Central.

Baltimore picked up a series clinching win in Seattle last night after finding themselves down to Jarrod Washburn and the M’s five to nothing after three innings. They plated single runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings before erupting for four in the 7th to take a 7-5 lead. The bullpen allowed the Mariners to tie it up in the bottom half of the inning, but the O’s offense put another run on the board in the top of the 8th and the bullpen slammed the door shut allowing the birds to grab just their fourth road victory of the season. At 13-9 overall, they sit just one-game in back of the AL East leading Boston Red Sox.

Orioles’ lefty Brian Burres will make his fourth start of the season tonight, and third on the road. He’s 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA and has allowed 18 hits and seven earned runs with a K/BB ratio of 9/10 in a shade over 17 innings of work. He pitched brilliantly in his only home start of the season against the Yankees his last time out throwing 5 2/3rds innings of five hit ball and allowing no runs. Chicago roughed him up in his lone career start against them last season at US Cellular Field. He didn’t last two innings getting tagged for six hits and seven earned runs allowing Chicago’s potent line-up to go yard off him twice.

Opposing him will be the White Sox Mark Buehrle who got pounded by the Tampa Bay Rays his last time out. He took the loss for his second start in a row, but he’s had success against Baltimore in his career going 4-2 with a 2.48 ERA and 1.086 WHIP in nine overall starts. Mark’s been hit often so far allowing 35 hits and 15 earned runs in just a shade under 23 innings of work.

Chicago opened –160 home favorites for the first game of this series with the ‘total’ set at 10 even. You can get down on both the ‘side’ and ‘total’ at BetUS.com right now!!!

Baltimore is 3-14 the L/17 times they’ve tried to hit a left-handed starter, and 2-7 in Brian Burres L/9 starts as a road underdog. However, they’re 5-2 their L/7 overall and 6-4 the l/10 times they’ve faced the White Sox.
