MLB Baseball Betting - World Series Odds Movement

If you did any MLB betting on the Arizona Diamondbacks’ chances to win the World Series a month ago you’re probably pretty happy with the sports betting odds you locked in for them.

The D-Backs had been listed back at +2500 odds to win the championship this season in the middle of April, but strong play since then has lowered those odds to just +800 in the BetUS MLB lines section. Arizona has fallen back to the pack a bit with some series losses in May, but with their strong pitching staff that futures bet still has good potential.

Two other National League clubs have seen significant improvement in their World Series odds over the past month – the St. Louis Cardinals and the Florida Marlins. Injuries on the Cardinals’ pitching staff didn’t have many people optimistic about their championship chances this season, and the club was at just +6500 odds to win the World Series early in April. However, that line has improved to +2000 in the past month.

The Marlins always seem to be in fire-sale mode, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in bettors early in the season. Florida was way back at +15000 odds to win the World Series at this time last month, but they currently hold down top spot in the NL East division and have improved to just +5000 odds to get yet another championship. Another trademark out-of-nowhere World Series victory for Florida could prove lucrative.

On the flip side, the World Series odds for both the Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies have taken a tumble over the past month. The Cubs were at +750 to win that elusive championship when we checked the list in mid-April, but bettors have soured on them a bit since then – they’re now at +1400. Still, the Cubs are right up there with the Cardinals in the NL Central standings, so watch for those odds to start to improve again.

The Rockies’ odds, though, should continue to tumble as they struggle to even get up to the .500 mark on the season. Colorado had been pegged at +2500 odds to win the World Series a month ago, but as the losing continued those odds fell to their current level of +7000. It’s going to take a big hot streak to help the Rockies’ odds to get better.

Other NL teams and their odds to win the title include the Mets (+750), the Phillies (+2000), the Dodgers (+2400), the Braves (+3000), the Brewers (+3500), the Astros (+5000), the Padres (+7500), and the Reds (+8000). The Pirates, Giants, and Nationals are all seen as the longest shots in the Senior Circuit right now – they’re each at +25000.

Over in the American League one of the big risers has been the Oakland Athletics, who were at +8000 to win the World Series a month ago but now sit at just +4000. The A’s have been battling the Angels for top spot in the AL West division despite a patchwork offense and a pitching staff hurting from the trade of Dan Haren over the winter months.

The Detroit Tigers, on the other hand, have seen their World Series odds fall from +750 a month ago to their current level of +1200. The Tigers still haven’t been able to put it all together this season, and they find themselves trailing the likes of the Twins, White Sox, and Indians in the division standings. Still, with all their talent a comeback is a possibility.

Other AL teams and their current odds to win the World Series include the Red Sox (+450), Yankees (+750), Angels (+850), Indians (+1500), White Sox (+2500), Blue Jays (+3000), Mariners (+5000), Rays (+5000), Twins (+7000), and Orioles (+15000). The Royals are well back at +20000, with the Rangers the biggest longshot at +25000 odds.
