MLB Baseball Betting – Who’s Hot In BetUS Sportsbook Baseball?
By Mike Rose
1) Chicago White Sox (5-2) (+$488.00) The White Sox started off their 2008 campaign with a couple of losses in Cleveland, but have now rallied to win five in a row to earn their backers a shade under $500 after Monday’s home opener against Minnesota. Their 2nd ranked offense has been fantastic averaging 6.43 runs per game. They also rank 2nd in HR’s having already belted 11 on the year. Starting pitching hasn’t been the greatest coming in ranked 23rd with a 4.43 ERA, but the retooled bullpen has come out strong coming in ranked 6th in the league with a 2.78 ERA and 0 blown saves.
2) Milwaukee Brewers (5-1) (+$481.00) The Brew Crew currently sits atop the NL Central after getting out to a 5-1 start out of the gates. The offense has smashed the cover of the ball ranking 1st in runs per game (6.67) batting average (.303) and 2nd in OPS (.848). They cashed a couple large underdog tickets in Chicago against the Cubs, and then won all three of their home games vs. San Francisco as no less than –185 chalks. They come in ranked #8 in starting pitching with a team ERA of 3.17, and the bullpen has held its own save for Eric Gagne in the opener with an ERA of 3.86.
3) Kansas City Royals (4-2) (+$451.00) The Royals turned the betting public upside down when they went into Comerica Park and swept the Tigers earning a $100 player $527 if they had the intestinal fortitude to fade the overhyped Tigers in all three games. This club has been getting it done on the bump with a team ERA of 2.67 and WHIP of 1.09 (both ranked #3). They also rank first in the league with just one error through their first six games of the season. Manager Trey Hillman would like to see more production from his offense (only 23 combined runs through 6 games), but it does come in ranked 12th overall with a .256 batting average.
4) Baltimore Orioles (5-1) (+$429.00) There was talk of this club setting the record for most losses ever in a single season, but the guys on the O’s current roster certainly aren’t playing like the bums they’ve been portrayed to be. After dropping its opener to Tampa Bay 6-2, the O’s have rattled off five in a row including an impressive four-game series sweep of the Seattle Mariners. The offense is averaging 5.33 runs per game (#7) with a batting average of .277 (#5). They’ve also been aggressive on the base paths stealing seven bases (#5), and the defense has only committed two errors to rank third in the league in that department. Starting pitching has been middle of the road, ranked 18th overall with a 4.17 ERA, but the bullpen has been fantastic collecting four wins and limiting opponents to a miniscule 0.84 ERA.
5) St. Louis Cardinals (5-2) (+$279.00) After dropping its season opener to the Rockies 2-1, the Cardinals rattled off five straight victories at home before dropping Monday’s game at Houston. The offense has by no means been impressive (18th overall at 4 RPG) save for its effort in the 9th yesterday against Jose Valverde, but the pitching has been fantastic. They come into this week ranked 2nd in team ERA at 2.32, and have gotten five quality starts through its first seven games. If this club continues to pitch at its current level, look for the Redbirds to be an even bigger threat in the NL Central once the big bats rediscover their home run strokes.
