When things are going your way, you win games on a balk and that’s exactly how the White Sox earned their 7-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals in last night’s online gambling affair. Right-hander Javier Vazquez was ineffective once again, but his offense never quit for him even after they found themselves in a 5-0 hole after the third inning. The win improved the White Sox to 53-37 overall, and they improved their road mark to 21-24 cutting down its road deficit for MLB bettors to a paltry $56. Kansas City was plagued by a crucial mistake for the second night in a row after relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez balked in the winning run in the eighth to seal the Royals seventh loss in their last 10 games. Chicago’s now a perfect 5-0 in their 2008 series with the Royals.

Lefty Mark Buehrle was the dominant force in the White Sox rotation throughout the month of June. He posted a perfect 4-0 mark backed by a stellar 1.60 ERA allowing a total of 37 hits in 45 total innings of work, and lasted eight innings in four of the six starts. All good things always come to an end though, and that’s exactly what happened his last time out against Oakland. The A’s pounded him for 10 hits in just 5 2/3rd innings of work, but he only surrendered four earned runs in Chicago’s 7-1 defeat. He’ll look to rebound in this spot when he makes his 11th road start of the season. As a visitor, Buehrle is 3-4 with a 4.43 ERA and 1.43 WHIP allowing 37 runs and 76 hits in 63 total innings of work. Chicago’s fared poorly with him toeing the rubber as a visitor winning just three of his 10 overall starts to date. In his career against Kansas City, Buehrle’s been fantastic posting a 16-6 overall mark in 31 overall starts with a 3.42 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. This will be his first start against them this season, but the White Sox won all three of his outings against them last season.

Zach Greinke enters his 19th start of the season as the only winning pitcher within the Royals starting rotation. He’s 7-5 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.27 WHIP allowing 114 hits and 48 runs with a solid K/BB ratio of 96/35 in 117 total innings of work. Zach’s been the brightest story in the Royals rotation this year, and he’s undefeated within Kaufmann Stadium going 3-0 with a stingy 2.57 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. He certainlypitched well enough in his last start at Tampa Bay limiting the Rays to just two runs and seven hits while striking out seven through six innings of work, but his offense did absolutely nothing for him in the 3-0 defeat. His unblemished home mark will be on the line against a Chicago franchise he’s had trouble with in the past. He’s 2-7 with a 5.35 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 11 career starts against the Southsiders.
