MLB Baseball Betting - Twins vs. White Sox
By Mike Rose
The sports betting action heats up in the BetUS Sportsbook as Minnesota takes on Chicago in a Thurday night MLB baseball matchup. The Twins busted out of its offensive slump to start the season in a big way last night when they tagged White Sox pitching for 13 hits and 12 runs en route to the decisive 12-5 road victory. The offense wasted no time plating a pair of runs in the first inning of lefty John Danks, and then blew the game wide open in the fifth with five more. Jason Kubel launched the third grand slam of his career, and righty Scott Baker picked up his second win of the season by giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs in five innings of work. The loss snapped the White Sox five-game winning streak and both Danks and Nick Masset saw their individual ERA’s skyrocket after giving up a combined 12 earned runs in only six innings of work.

Looking to build off the Twins best offensive effort of the year will be veteran Livan Hernandez as he makes his third start in a Minnesota uniform. He’s been everything and a bag of chips thus far for Ron Garndenhire as he comes into this spot 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA. His off speed stuff has baffled American League hitters thus far, so he’ll continue to roll the dice against Chicago’s stacked line-up comprised of Nick Swisher, Jim Thome, Paul Konerko, Jermaine Dye, and Joe Crede. This will be the first time he’s ever faced the Chicago White Sox, so it should be interesting to see how they react to his style.
Toeing the bump for Chicago will be Jose Contreras who’ll look to bounce back from his first start of the season against Detroit. The White Sox did win the game, but neither Contreras nor management can be happy with his results. He only lasted five innings giving up 10 hits and five runs (four earned) while walking four and only fanning a pair. This coming off a woeful 2007 campaign has White Sox nation nervous about Contreras’ future. Lifetime, he’s 4-3 against Minnesota and had one quality start in three tries against them last season.
Chicago opened lofty –150 home chalks with the ‘total’ set at 9 over (-125) for the rubber game of this three game set. You can get down on both the ‘side’ and ‘total’ for this game at BetUS.com right now!
Including last nights win, the Twins are just 2-5 SU their last 7 trips to Comiskey Park, and the White Sox are 7-3 SU in Contreras L/10 home starts as a favorite between –110 to –150. The Twins are also a poor 9-21 SU their L/30 as a road underdog. The first two games of this series went over the ‘total’ which makes the over 11-3-1 the L/15 overall meetings and 6-2-1 the L/9 meetings in Chicago.
