MLB Baseball Betting Trends – Indians at Angels
By Eric Williams
Sportsbook bettors got a taste of the MLB swings yesterday while the Los Angeles Angels, (5-4) got a taste of their own medicine, losing to the Cleveland Indians, (4-4) 4-3 as Travis Hafner hit a monster two-run home run in the ninth inning to lead his team to a comeback victory just one day after the Angels’ Torii Hunter blasted a ninth inning grand slam to lift the Angels to a 6-4 win.
Hafner’s blast off Angels reliever Justin Speier gave the Angels their first loss when leading after eight innings in a whopping 163 games.
"It doesn't matter to me - seventh, eighth or ninth inning. The game is on the line in all those innings anyway," said Speier, who has 17 career saves. "My mentality stays the same regardless of what inning I pitch in."
Tonight’ the Angels will try to extract a small measure of revenge with reliever turned starter, Dustin Moseley, (0-1, 9.00 ERA) making the start. The right-hander was rocked in his first appearance of 2008, getting knocked around for five runs in five innings in the Angels' 11-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Friday.
The Indians will counter with veteran, (0-1, 6.23), who is looking to give Cleveland its fourth straight quality start.
Byrd allowed five runs, though only three earned, in 4 1/3 innings of Cleveland’s 6-3 loss to the Oakland A’s on Friday.
Angels’ regular closer Francisco Rodriguez could sit this game out after suffering an injury in Monday’s victory.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my MLB Betting Picks:

The Over is 5-1 in Angels last six home games.
Key Head-to-Head Trends
The Under is 8-2 in the last ten meetings.
The Under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Los Angeles.
The Indians are 2-5 in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles.
The Pitchers: Paul Byrd is 0-1 in one start with zero strikeout, two walks and an ERA of 6.23.
Dustin Moseley is 0-1 in one start covering four strikeouts, two walks and a 9.00 ERA.
Analysis: There’s a reason why Angels starter Dustin Moseley has been a reliever his entire career - because he’s mediocre at best people – duh. Take the Indians to hand the Angels another loss while spanking up on Moseley and getting a quality start from Paul Byrd, one of the best ‘location’ pitchers in the game.
