MLB Baseball Betting Trends –Cardinals at Giants

While the St. Louis Cardinals, (7-2) were generally expected by the sports betting community to be a mediocre team that would struggle in the NL Central this season, they have exceeded everyone’s expectations except their own.

The Cardinals have won two consecutive games in the BetUS Sportsbook coming into tonight’s contest including a 6-4 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday.

The Cardinals have been fueled by excellent starting pitching as the team’s starters have combined for a 1.99 ERA thus far.

St. Louis will face a San Francisco Giants, (3-6) team that has struggled in the early going, though they enter this matchup coming off a 1-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright (1-0, 2.25 ERA), allowed two runs on eight hits in eight innings in his first start last Saturday, helping the Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Washington Nationals.

Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with his first two homers of the season on Wednesday, snapping the longest home run drought of his career to start a season.

"I watched a couple of videos and I made some adjustments at the plate because of some things that I saw the last couple of games," Pujols said of a video session earlier Wednesday. "I knew what I was doing wrong and it's a good thing that I picked it up early and I felt good out there and had success today. Obviously it helped me out."

The Giants will send starter Kevin Correia (0-1, 6.00) to the mound looking to pick up their third straight victory after rookie Daniel Ortmeier's laced an RBI double in the bottom the ninth to lift the club to a thrilling win on Thursday.

Correia gave up four runs on six hits, including a home run, in six innings of the Giants’ 5-4 loss at Milwaukee on Saturday.
