MLB Baseball Betting Tips – Whose Hot?

1) Daisuke Matsuzaka (4-0) (+$400.00) Dice-K tops the list of starting pitchers for sports betting enthusiasts to drool over. He and the below hurlers have gotten off to fabulous starts in their 2008 campaigns. The Red Sox are a perfect 4-0 in all four of his starts with a solid 2.70 ERA against the likes of the Yankees, Tigers, and A’s twice. He’s only allowed seven earned runs and 13 hits in 23.1 innings of work, and sports a K/BB ratio of 24/15. Sure he’s been a chalk in all four starts ranging from –160 to –132, but it takes money to make money in this league, and chalk bettors are currently toasting Daisuke across the globe. His next scheduled start comes this Friday night at Fenway against the Texas Rangers.

2) Zach Greinke (3-0) (+$394.00) The Royals are tickled pink with the effort Zach Greinke has given them throughout his first three starts of the season. He’s gone seven, eight, and nine innings to start the year with his last effort being a complete game five-hitter against the Mariners in the Royals 5-1 win. Since August 7th of last season, he's only allowed nine earned runs in 65 innings which equates to a 1.25 ERA, best among all Major League pitchers with at least 50 innings throughout that period. So far in ’08, Greinke’s surrendered just two earned runs and 17 hits in 24 innings of work with a K/BB ratio of 9/5. He’s been labeled an underdog in all three starts (+110 to +172), but look for that to change in the coming weeks. His next scheduled start comes this Saturday in the second game of their three game set at Oakland.

3) Brian Bannister (3-0) (+$392.00) The other reason why Kansas City currently holds a half game lead for the top spot in the AL Central is because of starting pitcher Brian Bannister’s work. Like Greinke, he’s 3-0 and has made his supporters close to $400.00 smackaroos in his first three starts of the season. To date, Bannister has yielded just 10 hits and two earned runs over 21 innings, while striking out 13 and walking five. He also owns victories over the Tigers and Yankees this season. His next scheduled start comes this Friday night in Oakland where he’ll take on Chad Gaudin and the Oakland A’s. In two starts against the A’s last season, Bannister was 1-0 with a 2.40 ERA including a complete game.

4) Jeff Suppan (3-0) (+$379.00) Jeff put forth a pair of fabulous starts to begin his 2008 campaign against both the Reds and Cubs, but is coming off his worst start of the year against the Mets where he only went four innings allowing nine hits and six earned runs. Milwaukee ended up winning that game 9-7, so the Brew Crew’s mark with Suppan toeing the bump is a profitable 3-0 on the season. So far, Suppan’s 1-0 with a 4.67 ERA allowing nine earned runs and 21 hits in 17.1 innings of work with a K/BB ratio of 5/6. He’ll look to get back in a groove this Friday afternoon in the Great American Ballpark against the Cincinnati Reds.

5) Livan Hernandez (3-0) (+$366.00) The ageless wonder has transitioned within the American League without a problem, and currently boasts a solid 3-0 mark with a 2.57 ERA. The junk ball magician has had AL batters, specifically KC, off-balanced throughout, and has pitched through the seventh inning in all three of his starts. He’s surrendered 21 hits and six earned runs in 21 innings of work while striking out six and walking one. He’ll look to improve his mark to (4-0) Wednesday night when the Twins welcome in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for a short two-game stint.
