MLB Baseball Betting –Surprises, Disappointments, All Around

The 2008 MLB Baseball season has gotten off to a thrilling start in the BetUS Sportsbook and just over one month into the regular season, several betting-affecting surprises and disappointments have already taken place in each league that should make the BetUS MLB Betting Community stand up and take notice.

Here is a look at the biggest money-making surprise teams – and bankroll-draining teams that MLB bettors will want to look long and hard at in the BetUS Locker Room.

The Oakland A’s, (12-8, 7-11 O/U) have been the biggest overachievers in the early going in the American League and have consistently put money in bettors’ pockets with their fast start. The A’s are 6-6 at home and a surprising 6-2 on the road and boast a whopping 14-6 RL record, (+728).

The Chicago White Sox, (11-7, 9-9 O/U) have also been an eye-opening – and money-making – team in the early going. The ChiSox are a respectable 4-3 at home but have excelled even more on the road, going 7-4 while also posting a surprising 12-6 mark in RL wagers, (+675).

The Baltimore Orioles, (11-8, 6-13 O/U), were expected to be cellar dwellers in the powerful AL East, but have jumped out to a surprising start that has been fueled by their spectacular 9-4 home record. While the Orioles are an uninspiring 2-4 on the road, they have gone 10-9 in RL wagers, (+3) but will be a club that bettors need to keep a close eye on as they could go south at any moment.

The National League has a few surprise teams of its own, starting with the Arizona Diamondbacks, (14-5, 11-6-1 O/U) who are off to an absolutely red-hot start, and have been putting money in MLB bettors’ pockets since the very beginning of the season. The D-Backs have been solid both, at home, (8-2) and on the road, (6-3) and are 14-4, (+$1365) in RL wagering and 11-6 in O/U wagers.

The Florida Marlins, (12-7, 11-7-1 O/U) may be the biggest surprise team in the National League however. Florida has used some solid pitching by Mark Hendrickson and spectacular hitting by Hanley Ramirez to go 7-5 at home and a solid 5-2 on the road while going a respectable 10-9 in RL wagers (+30).

Finally, the last surprise money-making team in the National league is the St. Louis Cardinals, (13-7, 10-10 O/U). St. Louis has gone 8-4 at home and 5-3 on the road and is 10-10 in RL wagers, (+175) despite being picked to be a middle-of-the-pack team in the NL Central.

The list of bankroll-decreasing teams in the BetUS Sportsbook in the early going may look a bit surprising as it features at least two legitimate AL Pennant contenders and one NL Pennant hopeful.

The Detroit Tigers, (7-13, 10-10 O/U) have struggled mightily in the early going 7-13 in RL wagers despite having one of the best batting orders in all of baseball while the Cleveland Indians, (7-12, 10-9 O/U) were also expected to be legitimate AL Pennant contenders but are just 7-13 in RL wagers. The Los Angeles Dodgers, (8-11, 9-10 O/U) and New York Yankees, (10-10, 5-15 O/U) have both underachieved in O/U and RL wagers with the Dodgers going an uninspiring 8-11 in RL wagers, (-223) and the Yankees similarly underperforming by going 8-12 in RL wagers, (-376).
