MLB Baseball Betting – Series Three Pack

Cincinnati Reds @ New York Mets

Talk about hitting a wall, the Cincinnati Reds couldn’t win a sports betting game if they were playing the local high school girls softball team.

The Reds have lost six of their last eight games including five of six on the road.

Now they head to the Big Apple to face the New York Mets, who are 9-5 at home.

The Mets will get a chance to tee-off on Matt Belisle, Bronson Arroyo and Johnny Cueto, all of whom have ERA’s above 5.27.

The Mets will counter with Mike Pelfrey, Johan Santana and Oliver Perez. Not only does Santana give the Mets the advantage, but Pelfrey pitches much better at home.

Pitching has been a problem for the Reds but so has hitting. The Reds are batting only .250 as a team, which puts them 12th in the National League.

Free Pick: NY Mets

Oakland Athletics @ Texas Rangers

Although the Texas Rangers took three of four online betting games from the Seattle Mariners to climb out of the MLB’s basement, don’t be fooled: they are still garbage.

The Mariners have some serious problems of their own – they managed only one run in the final three games of the series.

The Rangers will be up for a wakeup call against a much better Oakland Athletics team who is playing their best ball of the season right now.

Oakland’s three pitchers for this series, Greg Smith, Dana Eveland and Rich Harden, all have ERAs of 3.05 or less.

The Rangers lost two of three earlier in the week to Oakland and have trouble with their pitching. The A’s pitching staff has the best ERA in the American League while the Rangers are ranked second-last.

Free Pick: Oakland

Houston Astros @ Los Angeles Dodgers

Out of the four major sports, home field advantage is probably the least relevant in Major League Baseball, but the Houston Astros might disagree. They are 11-6 at home and 7-11 on the road. The Astros are hot, even though their five-game winning streak and eight-game home-winning streak was snap with their most recent loss.

They head to Los Angeles this weekend to face the Dodgers in a three-game set.

The Astros will pitch three wash-ups in Brian Moehler, Chris Sampson and Shawn Chacon against Derek Lowe, Chad Billingsley and Hiroki Kuroda.

Lowe has dominated the Astros and posted a 0.82 against them last year. Overall, he’s 2-2 with a 2.23 ERA against them in his career.

The Dodgers had won eight straight games prior to a 2-2 record this week. Part of the team’s improvement has been their hitting. They batted .327 as a team during their winning streak.

Free Pick: Los Angeles
