MLB Baseball Betting San Francisco at LA Dodgers
By Charles Jay
BetUS MLB baseball betting odds: Los Angeles -175, San Francisco +155, Total 7 (Under -120, Over - Even)
The San Francisco Giants (0-2) will go after their first win in three tries on Wednesday night when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (2-0) in National League action at Dodger Stadium that is set to begin at 10:10 PM ET.
Tim Lincecum will get the start for the Giants, while Chad Billingsley takes the mound for the Dodgers. Both are right-handers.
At BetUS Sportsbook, the Dodgers are listed as a -175 favorite (San Francisco is +155), with a total of seven runs (Under is -120, Over is even money).
Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
(NOTE: These trends also revert back to the 2007 season)
* SF has lost six of its last seven games
* SF has lost six of its last seven road games
* LA has won four of its last five games
* LA has lost 11 of its last 16 games
* LA has won four of its last five home games
In the HEAD-TO-HEAD baseball betting trends:
* LA has won four of the last five meetings
* LA has won four of the last five meetings as the home team
* Three of the last five meetings have gone OVER the total
* The home team has won five of the last six meetings
Tim Lincecum, he of the slight build and the quirky delivery, takes the mound tonight for San Francisco. The Giants may not be crazy about his dimensions (5'11", 170 pounds) but they love his potential. last year he started the season in Triple A Fresno, where his numbers were simply Bunyon-esque - a 4-0 record with a 0.29 ERA, surrendering just twelve hits and striking out 46 batters in 31 innings. That got him a ticket to the Bay Area, where he finished with a 7-5 record and a 1.28 WHIP ratio. The opposition hit just .223 against him.
The Giants may not have a lot of offensive punch, and will probably never see Barry Bonds in the lineup again, but Lincecum is among a trio of interesting young arms that includes Matt Cain and Noah Lowry.
Burly Chad Billingsley became a starter last June for the Dodgers, and in 20 outings, he was 12-5 with a 3.31 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. But control has been a problem for him. Billingsley walked 58 batter in 90 innings in 2006, and although he improved in that department last season (64 walks in 147 innings) he still is not where he needs to be at to become a real stopper.
Joe Torre has won his first two games, though anyone who thinks his presence alone is going to help L.A. overtake San Diego and Colorado in the National League West is dreaming. Also, we think a little bit more of Lincecum right now, enough to take this price with the San Francisco pitcher. So we move with the Giants, the +155 underdog in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
