MLB Baseball Betting - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cincinnati Reds
By D.S Williamson
This is going to be an interesting match-up as Cole Hamels, taking the mound for the Phillies, has been nothing short of spectacular against the Cincinnati Reds. The last time he faced Cincinnati, Hamels struck out 15 Reds. That’s pretty good. In two starts against the Reds, Hamels is 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA.
Bronson Arroyo takes the mound for the Cincinnati Reds. Arroyo is a good pitcher for the Reds with a decent ERA of 3.60. This is the fourth game in the series between the two teams. The Reds won the last two games by scores of 8 to 2 and 4 to 3.
Let’s take a look at the BetUS MLB Betting lines.
Philadelphia Phillies
Cole Hamels – L - 1 ½ + 120 - 135 O 9
Cincinnati Reds
Bronson Arroyo – L + 1 ½ - 140 U 9
There are two wagers that I see from this game. The first has to do with the BetUS over/under of 9 runs. Even though the Reds have been on fire lately, scoring 8 and then 4 runs in the other two games in this series, they haven’t faced a pitcher quite like Cole Hamels.
Hamels can absolutely dominate a team. When he’s on, the chances of you getting 1, much less two or three runs, is pretty minimal. Because Philadelphia doesn’t have the firepower that some of the other teams in the N.L. Central have, the Phillies have scored at least 8 runs in only two games this season, I do believe that this will be an under game.
Arroyo could very well give up 4, maybe even 5, runs but I see Hamels giving up no more than 1 or 2 runs in this game.
With me writing that there’s a likelihood that this game will go under, it makes sense for me to write that the other good wager in this game is giving up the 1 ½ runs on Hamels and taking the odds. I do have faith in the Reds, but Hamels is money against this team. He was fantastic in his first start of the year giving up only one run to the Washington Nationals. Unfortunately for Hamels, he got zero run support from his team and ended up losing the game.
I expect the Phillies to make amends in this game against Bronso Arroyo who should be good to give up at least 3 runs in this game.
The BetUS Over/Under is 9 runs between the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies. I like the under in this game.
The BetUS MLB line is Cole Hamels for the Philadelphia Phillies - 1 ½ + 120 against the Cincinnati Reds.
I like Hamels to come out strong and shut-down the Reds.
