MLB Baseball Betting Odds - Phillies vs. Mets

Jamie Moyer for the Phillies must have read my BetUS sportsbook write-up. I think it made him mad. He pitched great on Tuesday night and once again the Mets dropped a game to the Phillies in Shea Stadium. I think the Mets will be the happiest folks alive when they finally stop playing in Shea. The bad times may not end for the Mets tonight as they send Mike Pelfrey to the mound. Pelfrey is one of the reasons the Mets didn’t make it to the post-season last year. Pelfrey went 3 and 8 in 13 starts and 2 relief appearances last year. He finished the season with an ERA of 5.57.

The Phillies send Kyle Kendrick to the mound. Kendrick had a rough first game giving up 4 runs in only 5 innings of work. Because the Phillies’ bats were en fuego, he got the victory. He also finished with an ERA of 7.20. Kendrick will be looking to bounce back after a bad start to the season.

Let’s take a look at the BetUS lines.

Philadelphia Phillies

Kyle Kendrick – R + 1 ½ - 155 + 135 O 9 ½

New York Mets

Mike Pelfrey – R - 1 ½ + 135 - 155 U 9 ½

First, I’m not even going to consider a wager on the BetUS over/under. To me 9 ½ runs is very doable in this game. But it’s 9 ½ runs. I don’t know how bad Kendrick or how good Kendrick is going to be in this game. I have a feeling that Pelfrey will be bad, but Kendrick could be on or off. That tells me that the 9 ½ runs is just too much.

Luckily, we don’t have to think too hard about this game. The Philadelphia Phillies have beaten the New York Mets straight-up in ten straight games. For some reason the Mets just can’t beat the Phillies. I doubt they are going to start tonight with Mike Pelfrey on the mound.

Sometimes a baseball team gets it into its head that they can’t lose to another team. How else to explain old man Moyer having a fantastic game Tuesday night against the Mets? The Phillies just feel like they can beat the Mets no matter who is on the mound for them.

Since Kyle Kendrick is supposed to be one of their better pitchers, taking the Phillies straight-up at plus odds is a good wager.

The BetUS MLB money-line is Philadelphia Phillies + 135 to beat the New York Mets on the road.

I’ll bet the Phillies to win straight-up.
