MLB Baseball Betting Odds - New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
By D.S Williamson
Rain is scheduled in today’s online betting matchup in Los Angeles, the land of fruits and nuts, which almost certainly explains why they are playing this game in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Wednesday, like everyday in L.A., is a busy day. The freeways are packed and most individuals don’t have time to make it out to the ball-park. But they almost always have time to log onto the BetUS online sportsbook and place a wager on one of these two very good teams.
The Mets send John Maine to the mound. Maine is a solid starter having racked up a 3 and 2 record with an ERA of 3.48. That’s not bad and baseball betting strategists could definitely work with those numbers in this game.
But the Dodgers send out their ace, Brad Penny. Penny might start sounding like cha-ching to MLB betting enthusiasts as he has started to look like the ace that everybody expected him to be going into this season. He’s 5 and 2 on the year with a 3.19 ERA.
Here are the BetUS online wagering betting odds for this game.
New York Mets
John Maine – R + 1 ½ - 190 Ev O 8 ½ Ev
Los Angeles Dodgers
Brad Penny – R - 1 ½ + 160 - 120 U 8 ½ - 120
Here are some specific trends regarding potential online sportsbook wagers in this game.
The New York Mets are 4 and 1 in John Maine’s last 5 starts versus a team with a winning record.
The New York Mets are 9 and 2 in John Maine’s last 11 starts on a Wednesday
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 8 and 1 in their last 9 games following a win.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 7 and 1 in Brad Penny’s last 8 starts on a Wednesday.
The Under is 4-0-1 in the Mets’ John Maine’s last 5 starts on grass.
The Over is 5 and 0 in the Dodgers’ Brad Penny’s last 5 overall starts.
Conflicting trends about the BetUS over/under automatically tells me to shy away from that online wager today. If I had to go with it, then I’d probably go with the over as the Dodgers have been hitting the ball very well.
With the exception of a 7 to 2 loss to Colorado on May 4th, the Dodgers have racked up at least 5 runs in 7 out of their last 8 games. That’s pretty good production. The key of course is whether or not they can do it against a very good pitcher like John Maine.
I’m going to say no for the simple fact that the only real sportsbook wager in this game is on the New York Mets to win straight-up at even money.
As good as the Dodgers have been playing, I’m hesitant to take Penny at – 1 ½ runs. I also can’t take the + 1 ½ on John Maine while having to put up an extra 90 bucks.
That means that the only real online bet to make in this game is on the Mets to win this thing straight-up.
