MLB Baseball Betting Odds - Cardinals vs. Brewers

The St. Louis Cardinals travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in Monday night online baseball betting action where pitcher Adam Wainwright will be looking to beat the Brewers for the second time in six days. Wainwright has been spectacular in the three games he has pitched in this season. He has a record of 2 and 1 with an ERA of 2.78. There’s nothing not to like about Wainwright’s game right now as he has struck out 16 batters in those three games. Perhaps, Wainwright’s best asset is his ability to pitch into the deep innings of games. The last time he faced the Brewers, Wainwright pitched 7 and 2-3 innings.

The Brewers counter with pitcher Carolos Villanueva. Villanueva hasn’t had the same success this year as Wainwright. In three games he’s only struck out 10 batters while going 1 and 2 with an ERA of 6.19. Villanueva isn’t a terrible pitcher, but as evidenced by his ERA, he definitely needs run support from the Brew-Crew to bring home victories. He’ll be up against it when he takes the mound in tonight’s game.

There is no obvious wager in this game. I am surprised that Villanueva is the favorite even though the Brewers are at home. Wainwright has proven to be a capable road pitcher. That leads me to believe that maybe things just aren’t in the cards for St. Louis tonight. Then again, giving up less then what we would in a single football game to bet the Cardinals to win this game straight-up sure is tempting.

Both of these teams are very good. The advantage that the Cardinals have in this game is Adam Wainwright. Will he be enough to secure a victory for the Cardinals?

I believe that he will. If he can put his usual 7 innings or so and keep this one close, I have no doubt that the Cardinal bats will come to life late in the game. This is true should Carlos Villanueva pitch a brilliant game early which I doubt he will.

In any case I believe betting on the Cardinals to win this game straight-up is the way to go.
